House passes late term abortion ban

Washington (CNN) - The House of Representatives Tuesday passed a GOP-sponsored bill banning so- called "late term abortions" - procedures for women who are beyond 20 weeks into their pregnancy. The vote was 228-196, mostly along party lines.

The bill’s sponsor, Republican Rep. Trent Franks, R-Arizona, stirred up controversy last week when he opposed an effort by House Democrats to add an exception for women who are raped, arguing that "the incidents of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low."

House Democrats seized on the comment, and because of the backlash GOP leaders later decided to add new language to the bill allowing women who get pregnant as a result of rape or incest to obtain an abortion if they report the crime to authorities.

The White House has threatened a veto on the legislation, but the Democratic-led Senate is not expected to take up the measure.

the incident of a working brain in Franks are very low. His scan shows disruptive patterns accompanied by guilt associated with childhood molestation.

Ahh here we go again a wasted vote to pander to the right wing of the party. Let's see now what else can the GOP do to lose the female independent vote What a bunch of losers. Wouldn't want to consider doing something that would move the economy forward like funding infrastructure, etc.

What about jobs? Student loans? Immigration?

House GOP would rather waste taxpayers' time and money on their BIG government intrusions against women, which have absolutely no chance of passing. Shameful theatrics.

Vermin. A House-full of Hate has, again, fired another salvo against the women of our country. GOP – continue the now-5 year war against President Obama and the people of the country.

The GOP response to the voters' message in November 2012 is, again, "Up Yours, America – We Don't Give A Rat's Posterior about your Message – We're Doubling Down on "The War."

Added message from the GOP – to the women of the country? "We Know Better What Health Care You Need, and Are Deserving Of, so Sit Down and Shut Up! We Have Set Up Shop in your Collective Uterus and We're Not Going Anywhere!"

Why don't Republicans take care of the real problems facing this nation and quit trying to dictate their moral standards upon others? Republicans are out of touch with their constituents' real concerns.

How is this going to help the country? If they think that this is to keep the fetus alive when it isn't really a person yet? Why is this "pro-birth" legislation more important than a jobs bill?

Why is it Obama loves to see unborn INNOCENT babies murdered while allowing Millions of ILLEGAL ALIENS who are GUILTY be allowed into these country and given pathways to citizenship? If JEB BUSH is correct that illegal aliens are needed to pay taxes and shore up Social Security WHY arent the unborn allowed to live so they can grow up to be productive tax paying citizens? Why doesnt he care if INNOCENT UNBORN AMERICANS ARE BEING MURDERED?

Waste of time by the GOP – oh that's right – no tax cuts for rich people will pass so let's just continue to waste time until the next elections.

They keep passing bills that go no where. This is the problem with Washington, there is no intent to actually be productive when they can get campaign credits to scream why America is going downhill all the while they let America go down hill. Hey here is an Idea, you start passing laws with a 60 percent majority, and the senate should need only 50 votes to have a vote and 60 votes to pass. Then we will see something good happen or really see if they want to accomplish anything. Personally I don't think they should have any conversations regarding policy with any one that isn't public record. They have their agenda, then they sell us some cover story to back up their voting positions but they never vote with the countries best interest, no there is always some back room agreement and money into their campaigns for it, and they call it legal. Bunch of puppets on the payroll , they are all sell outs or big money just finds someone else's strings to pull. The system is broke and they are draining the coffers and directing to people who are going to make them rich. The founding fathers feared this would come eventually, hardly believe it would be so soon.

The child should not be aborted. How come when a child is aborted due to rape or incest the suspect that did the rape only gets jail time IF convicted? I believe hearty that if you kill the innocent child, put the rapist to death also.

The GOP STILL doesn't realize that they can't legislate from 'inside' the uterus, and that the vast majority of women would rather handle this without their help! This is not what you were sent to Washington to do, or maybe your were. Until the 'Grand Old Party' comes out as more sympathetic and understanding towards Women, they are going to continue to lose National Elections.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why on earth would rape be an issue when it comes to whether or not late term abortions should be legal?

You have plenty of time to realize you've been raped, and get an abortion before a late term abortion is neccesary.

2010 Jobs, jobs, jobs! 2012 We're fiscal conservatives running on what we'll do for the economy, oops, how did those social conservatives get in here? 2013 38 votes to repeal the health care law, several scandal investigations (most without any traction) and a new anti-abortion bill. Republicans, bait and switch, same old same old.

So, a question – if, God forbid, your 23 week pregnant daughter was murdered, would you consider that a murder of 2, your daughter and your grandchild, or just your daughter? As a woman, I simply don't understand anyone supporting abortion. And please, don't give me any "supporting choice" crap. Give me a real, honest answer.
