IRS also targeted progressive groups
Washington (CNN) – The Internal Revenue Service targeted liberal groups as well as conservatives seeking tax-exempt status, a Democratic congressman charged on Monday after the agency acknowledged the inappropriate practice continued until last month.
Rep. Sander Levin said the term "progressives" was included on IRS screening lists of applicants for tax-exempt status made available to Congress on Monday.

Which "progressive" groups got extra scrutiny? Why are just NOW hearing about the fact they exist? How many of the "progressive" groups had applications delayed? How long were they delayed for?

That information has always been available to anyone with access to the internets. But reporting that EVERYONE was being scrutinized wouldn't be a story, nor would it sell advertising.

What is not being said in the article is that the initial investigation was to answer the question, "Are conservative groups being targeted?" The apparent answer is yes, and investigating other types of groups was outside of the scope of the original investigation. More recent investigating has turned up the fact that not just conservative groups were targeted. Other keywords included, "progressive", "occupy", and "Israel".
Conservative complain that far more conservative groups were scrutinized. Of course, they were. There were far more conservative applications.

Nah, they'll just deny it. Or accuse President Obama of fabricating all those "librul" tax exempt application in the wake of this so-called "scandal" breaking.

So I wonder why Lois Lerner only apologized for targeting conservative groups. Sounds like a smoke screen to me.

Lois Lerner denied criminal wrongdoing and took the 5th. She made no such apology, because that would be an admission of guilt.

Because scope of the initial investigation was to answer the question, "Are conservative groups being targeted?" Other types of groups were beyond the scope of the original investigation, and were not looked at but they are being looked into now. Rep. Issa has known these latest facts for weeks now, but has been suppressing them.
