Breaking: Senate approves sweeping immigration overhaul

(CNN) - The Senate gave final approval Thursday to an overhaul of U.S. immigration laws that would create a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants while increasing security along the Mexican border. The measure now goes to the Republican-controlled House, where GOP leaders say they will instead draft their own version.

The Repub requirement to "secure the border" before moving ahead on anything is just another stall tactic. They are hoping to gain control of the Senate, which would then NEVER deem the border secure – which would keep illegal immigrants off the path to citizenship.

Why? Because the GOP knows that their history of bowing to big Agra to bring illegals in (under Reagan), giving them amnesty (under Reagan), then vilifying illegals starting in about 2006 Karl Rove needed a new wedge issue pretty much guarantees that as, at least, Hispanics become citizens and are eligible to vote – will overwhelmingly VOTE DEMOCRATIC.

And there's no way in Hades that the GOP will ever win another national election again ...

@California: "Pass amnesty without securing the border and republicans will be HISTORY."

Not our problem that Repubs have been screwing illegals for a long time now ... they made that bed; they can lie in it.

@California: "The radical LIEberals are literally destroying America."

Radicals like Ronald Reagan who opened the flood gates to illegal immigration at the behest of Big Agra? Liberal like Reagan who granted them amnesty? Liberals like all the companies (Disneyland, WalMart, etc.) and individuals (do you always check immigration status when you hire?) who've been breaking the law by hiring illegal aliens?

    THOSE Liberals?

Your beef is with THEM, sweetheart.

@Sniffit; "Next up: House GOPers/Teatrolls make the biggest mistake of their careers."

Break out the popcorn, Baby; I can hardly wait!

But a reminder: The GOP is working feverishly to disenfranchise voters – and the SCOTUS decision earlier this week will just accelerate the process.

It's up to all of us with working brains to get out and vote Democratic in 2014 – and encourage every other thinking voter to do the same!

"I can almost guarantee that not one Obamite on here has had one discussion with a TEA Party supporter to hear their point of view."

I have talked to tea potty folks and they are incredibly misinformed about practically every topic. Close-minded, too, unwilling to do any independent research. I guess it's a defense mechanism: The truth blows their "ideas" straight out of the water.

Rather than deal with the economy and jobs, the house republicans have tried to eliminate women's reproductive rights 38 times and the ACA 37 times. There, I fixed it for StuffIt, and now it is correct.

The noose...errrrr...ball is in your court now, House GOPers/Teatrolls. Happy hanging!
Well, at least now we can see what's in it.

If you're OK with 11 million criminals getting a free pass, then more power to ya! You can pay for it. I'm out. Have fun. And, BTW, if you live in California, Nevada, Arizona, or New Mexico, I highly recommend that you buy a gun. You'll need it.
