A t-shirt for Texans
(CNN) - No movement is complete without memorabilia. Now, supporters of Planned Parenthood and state Sen. Wendy Davis' fight against new abortion restrictions in Texas have their own.
Planned Parenthood on Monday released a t-shirt available online that links the issue with NBC's "Friday Night Lights," a former hit TV show about a high school football team set in Dillon, Texas.
The t-shirts are selling for $22-$32 depending on color and ask "WWTTD: What Would Tami Taylor Do?" On the back, the shirts say "standwithtexaswomen.org."
Tami Taylor was played by actress Connie Britton. "The character Tami on Friday Night Lights is a Texas woman deeply committed to her community and to standing up for what is right for her neighbors and the people she loves," Britton said in a statement released by Planned Parenthood.
In a 2010 episode about abortion, a pregnant teenage girl went to Britton's character, a school principal, who gave the teenager advice about her options. This is not Britton's first foray into activism, having written a 2012 column criticizing Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign for using the rallying cry of the football team in "Friday Night Lights."
Opponents of a Texas bill that would make it illegal to obtain an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy and restrict abortion providers have made "Stand With Wendy" a rallying cry after the Fort Worth Democrat's 13-hour filibuster last week temporarily killed the bill as the Texas legislature ended a special session.
The day after the filibuster, Republican Gov. Rick Perry called another special session of the legislature to take another shot at passing the bill, which supporters say protects the unborn and women's health.
The new special session started Monday and this time stands a much better chance of passing the abortion bill. A filibuster to stop it would theoretically need to last the entire month-long session. Opponents have vowed to continue fighting.
Davis' initial filibuster drew national attention to the fight, inciting speculation of a possible gubernatorial run, which Davis has said she is considering. Perry has not announced a decision on whether or not he will run for reelection in 2014, although opponents charge that the former 2012 presidential contender is attempting to raise his political profile through his pro-life actions.

CNN will help Cowboy Fonzie broadcast his disgusting commentary, but is completely ignoring that there are now thousands of people outside the TX gov't buildings protesting the GOP/Teatrolls' attempt to eliminate women's reproductive rights. Kudos CNN. Maybe you can find a group of 5 or so Teatroll in tinfoil hats carrying a sign depicting Obama as Hitler...then pretend it's a massive protest...so you can fill up your "grassroots" stories quota instead?

A picture of Texas Gov. Rick Perry during last year's primary debates standing on stage like a beacon of stupidity completely blanked out on the three departments in government that he vehemently proclaimed he would shut down, that should do it for everyone.
Sales would go through the roof.

Why would the MSM draw attention to something that would help destroy the source of it's red meat controversies against Obama? No no...better to pretend that Kasich didn't just sign a budget ordering ultrasounds and taking away women's access to public hospitals if something goes wrong with the abortion procedure such that they need further assistance...no no...better to force them into private hospitals and kill two birds with one stone by screwing up their reproductive freedom AND forcing them to spend money on the private hospital industry.

I believe that decent people can disagree on the abortion issue, even as I myself believe that abortion is a medical decision, and not something to be determined by politicians w/o any medical training.
Beyond this issue, who cares about the t-shirts – Senator Davis is a hottie !!!!

Private hospitals, like any other private enterprise, reserve the right to deny service. The question is will they? They can refuse to treat patients without insurance or whose insurance isn't accepted, or those who aren't prepared to pony up several thousand dollars just to make it into triage. With pharmacists refusing to fill prescriptions for "morning after" pills based on their own "morality" who's to say hospital staff won't follow their lead? This is a slippery slope, folks.
I hope the law does pass and riles enough good people up enough to get them to the polls to vote out every last rethug in the legislature! then women's rights can be restored and hopefully no one will die during a back-alley abortion. all the repuglikkklans can vote on these days is guns and abortion. has any repug lege in the country passed a single JOBS BILL?????
