(CNN) - Mark Kelly and his wife, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, couldn’t get Congress to act on their appeal for stricter gun control. So now, they are taking their case on the road and contemplating hard-ball politics to get their way.
Giffords was shot in the head two years ago during a political event at an Arizona supermarket and continues to recover.
FULL STORY
It is completely ridiculous that the irrational fear of a minority of our population coupled with the lobbying power of the NRA have made it impossible to enact the most mild, common sense legislation to reduce gun violence.
Everyone KNOWS they are NOT attacking the real problem, so they are going to get no where with that.
Got news for you, 2nd Amendment fantasists: the woman will not stop until she gets that Manchin-Toomey bill, or a variant of it, passed. And she will eventually succeed.
@Mikey Common sense to who, weak wristed progressive democrats that can't help themselves but blame an object for a crime instead of the perp, or better yet the society that breeds them.
The Giffords/Kelly dynamic duo are not getting their way because what they are proposing would not have made a difference in any of their poster events, would not have any impact on criminal misuse of firearms, would not have stopped nut cases from acquiring firearms and going on shooting sprees. What they are proposing amounts to an ineffective infringement on our right to keep and bear arms and Americans aren't buying their BS.
COMMON sense is no longer COMMON in America. There is only one power in America today and that is MONEY. Until WE THE PEOPLE actually begin to actively participate in our government the 20-25% of the population that does not like government, does not like women having the ability to chose how to control their reproductive organs, does not like it being easy for minorities to vote, and does not like the fact that many of us are not obsessed with guns. Will continue to use back door politics, and big money to stir up the chaos ripping through our country.
