Obama celebrates America's independence

Washington (CNN) – President Obama used his weekly address Thursday to sound a happy birthday for the United States of America.

"On July 4, 1776, a small band of patriots declared that we were a people created equal – free to think and worship and live as we please," Obama said. "It was a declaration heard around the world – that we were no longer colonists, we were Americans, and our destiny would not be determined for us; it would be determined by us."

Giving special thanks to the members of the military and service members currently serving in harm's way, Obama called on all Americans to continue striving for the ideals and liberty of Independence Day.

"237 years later, the United States – this improbable nation – is the greatest in the world," Obama said. "A land of liberty and opportunity. A global defender of peace and freedom. A beacon of hope to people everywhere who cherish those ideals."

It's ironic that "Obama celebrates America's independence" when his objective is to create a nation of people wholly dependant on government.

    Obama is a total fraud.

He celebrates becoming a dictator in America.........just as he supported a dictator in Egypt!

None of the US media showed the real photos, of the Egyptians, denouncing Obama, for supporting Morsi, and his dictatorship. Not one single media! Not even Fox news!

This government is all a complete and total LIE!

Obama is in fact a dictator, who has gained total control of the media, and what the people KNOW!

The founding fathers never wanted this country to be socialist but here we are. What a joke the way Obama plays this country to his own stupid vision. He never had the resumed or the intelligence for this job and still doesn't (college grades anyone?). Enjoy your president Dems and wallow in his failure (Obama care employer mandate delayed?). The shame of this country is on display for everyone to see (spy on our friends?). Today is now Independance day for Egypt since Obamas boy has been thrown out. Good job people of Egypt, we support you even though the Dems president doesn't.

The USA a nation that respects diversity and the drive of individualism, while keeping itself focused on the responsibility of caring for those whom have the least among us. That's a fine balancing. One that has made this the land of opportunity. Keep up the good work Mr.President!

The hatred of the right directed towards the elected leader of our country is astounding. In many countries of the world they would be under arrest by now. Our system of government is still the greatest in the world. It allows this free speech and our free elections....without military intervention. Obama's diplomacy is beyond the grasp of the far right. We mock what we don't understand!

The anti-Obama posts just look sad today. Guys, go outside, get some air, enjoy the holiday. Myself, I've got some Ossabaw pig prepared for the grill, along with veggie kabobs and some nice cold Lucky Buddha beer. Mmmm! And watching fireworks from atop the roof later tonight with the lady of the house.

    Happy 4th, all.

Interesting, lets examine Obama diplomacy. Russia and China have absolutely no respect for America as shown by their complete dismissal of the requests to hand over the criminal Snowden. This man did not "Hack" information (as Obama puts it), but committed espionage. Too bad your president doesn't see this as a big deal. Germany, France, UK are all pretty pissed due to the spying. Relations have never been lower in countries like Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia. Hides the truth about Benghazi and hides from Iran and Syria. Please enlighten us as to the future positive outcome for this complex form of diplomacy.

Wow I still can't understand why this Country still think Obama is the greatest of all time put down the Kool Aid and wake up.

Obama has done nothing but divide this Country and if you would just open your eyes you would see that too.

Not right not left just common sense people wake up before we don't have a Country anymore except one that is run by a Dictator kind of like now.

Obama continues to divide this Country and you just can't see it. This Country was not to be run by the Government it is to be run by the people. Our Government has more people on their payroll that do nothing and they want us to continue to pay Union wages with our tax dollars.

I fought for the United States but I don't see where we are united anymore.

Sad 4th of July and their still people out there that just don't get it.

Mr. President, for most Americans liberty and opportunity feel like they are slowly slipping away. When the fruit of our labor is squashed by an ever expanding and inefficient government it makes it harder and harder to celebrate anything.
