(CNN) – Sarah Palin may not be done with politics after all.
The former Alaska governor, who was also 2008's GOP vice presidential nominee, said Tuesday she's contemplating a bid for U.S. Senate against Democrat Mark Begich. He's up for re-election in 2014.
"I've considered it because people have requested me [to] consider it," Palin told conservative radio host Sean Hannity on his show. "I'm still waiting to see what the lineup will be. And hoping there will be some new blood, new energy. Not just kind of picking from the same old politicians in the state that come from political families."
Begich, a former mayor of Anchorage, was elected in 2008. He defeated longtime GOP Sen. Ted Stevens, who died in 2010 in a plane crash.
The 2014 race is labeled "lean Democratic" on the Cook Political Report, and the Rothenberg Political Report rates the race as toss up/tilt Democrat. Both are non-partisan political handicappers.
Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and Joe Miller, a Republican who lost a U.S. Senate bid in Alaska in 2010, have both said they'll run against Begich next year.
"Sen. Mark Begich has got to be replaced," Palin told Hannity. "He had not done what he had promised to do for the people of Alaska, which is to represent what it is the nation needs in terms of energy development."
"Because he's on the wrong side of the aisle, he has to go along to get along with his Democrat leadership, and that's a shame," she continued. "That's a waste of opportunity for our nation."
Palin, who currently acts as a commentator on the Fox News Channel, told CNN last month she would definitely hit the campaign trail for fellow Republicans next year.
"Time's-a-wasting. Things are moving really quickly and if we don't get out there and defend this republic then America will be transformed into something we do not recognize," she told CNN.
Hey let her run she might take some votes away from Dems. Our Gov. Is concerned with power not our state , he has let cruise lines oil and gas and outside interest outweigh Alaskans vote all the bums out, oh yeah someone please get the pred out of office
I guess money is drying up with no more books to sell or Fox news appearances. Facebook posts don't seem to be as lucrative.
She isn't running for anything!! This is a ploy to stay in the spotlight so she can command mucho dollars in appearane fees!!
This is just her way of saying.........."Look at me! Look at me!"
Correct me but when she was under investigation as Gov. she quit.
This is the same mutant who after just visiting Paul Revere's home couldn't come up with a true answer, when asked, as to his ride and/or the reason except to bring guns and ammo to the equation.
There are many stu pid people who still follow her but she IS definitely their queen of dumb, clueless and brainless.
Hey Sarah, you are also no longer a new blood. You are as old as my first car I drove since I was born. 50 years and still count yourself a new blood. No Grandma, let the really new blood talk and not you.
I always get an instant headache whenever I try to decipher her bad grammar and inappropriate use of tense. William Shatner needs to do another poetry reading. It hurts to read her words.
Palin: I wish I know how to quit you, $$$ and Fame. Let me try the US Senate for a year before I change my mind again.
Go back to school and pass your American govt. 101. If you can neither recollect reading any Alaskan newspaper, nor understand the role of VPOTUS, what makes you think that voters will trust you as a senator?
She's just as qualified as any of the other idiots, drunks, and cheats already in there. She just looks better in heels. On second thought, please don't run.
Based on her local approval ratings in AK while she was governor, (and not having to fight frivolous lawsuits...which were completely dropped), I think she has a great chance of winning. Remember all you people here posting negative comments which live outside where she will run, you mean nothing to the results. Mine comment is just an opinion on her possibility of success; nothing on her abilities for the position.
must be time to fleece the rubes again.
What fun! I haven't had much to laugh about this year. Glad ol' "I can see Russia from my house" Sarah is back. Meanwhile, that Hassleback woman will be on FOX shortly. More laughs.
Seriously, regardless if you agree with her politics, she quit her job as govenor. My mom always said, "Nobody wants to play with a quitter." But feel free, electing that egomanic quitter.
