Texas House passes restrictive abortion measure
Austin, Texas (CNN) - The Texas House of Representatives approved a measure Wednesday that would place broad new restrictions on abortions in the state.
A state Senate committee is scheduled to vote Thursday on whether to send its version of the bill to the full Senate.

Women’s Miranda rights according to the Radical Repressive Religious Right:
1. You have the right to remain silent and should do so
2. Anything you say can and will be disregarded
3. You have the right to talk only to the Pope about abortion or birth control
4. If you can not afford a contraceptive hold an aspirin between your knees
5. You cannot decide to change these rights without the consent of a man
6. You are not expected to understand these rights because of your limited mental capacity.
7. You are expected to stay barefoot and pregnant.
8. Your body is not your own. It was designed for the pleasure and convenience of men and is to be controlled by men.
Dead on arrival when it hits the courts. No wonder the rest of the country looks at the deep south as a joke. Next they will tackle the voting rights of minorities, I'm sure. Perry and his ilk are neanderthals at best.

Those that are saying that it will reversed in court, think again there are other states with the same restrictions and they are the law of the land. BTW why does a woman need 5 months to decide if she wants to abort a baby? this law does not restrict abortions before 20 weeks which is 5 months.

Correct to a point- the law closes 85% of the clinics women would use. That means many women simply will have no access to clinics to exercise their legal pre-20 week rights to abortion- or any other sort of birth control, or pre-natal care. Don't you see? The Government of Texas just took away women's rights to have a perfectly legal medical procedure. Ponder that one for a moment the next time you need to see a doctor. Talk about "death panels"!
The religious right is destroying the Republican party. They just don't learn, even after handing Obama the white house last year. The Texas Taliban has just taken the wheel of Todd Akins' Caterpillar to pave the way for Obama's Euro Style Welfare State.
Avoid Texas at all costs. I have never had a positive experience with Texas or Texans and I live surrounded by them. My stepfamilies were both Texans and spewed hatred, bigotry, and racism, while being immersed in hypocrisy and greed. I am loath to ever find myself in the company of, or in legion with anyone from Texas. There is no closer landscape to the lower regions of humanity's evil than Texas.
Thank you Texas, I hope more states follow your direction.
I wish Texas would just secede....and take Florida and Arizona with them.

Why do all of you want to kill babies? There are loving families out there waiting years to adopt. By the way, it is cheaper to kill the baby than it is to adopt. Scary! You say it is a war against women, but in fact it is a war to save the babies from being killed. Abortion is appropriate in rape and incest cases, thats it.
Jimkon- natural miscarriages when genetic issues or conditions not suitable to sustain pregnancy does not make God and abortionist. Someone going inside the women and dismembering a baby does. Abortion is murder.
If my 25 year old daughter made the decision to have an abortion, I would not be happy about it. but I would want it to be in a safe place. I don't see a problem with this "ambulatory surgical center" requirement. If a clinic wants to stay open, have a fund raiser. If a doctor can't get hospital procedures, do you really want him working on your daughters body. Lasik centers cosmetic surgery centers have to meet the requirement.
If you want something to be upset about try being upset about California sterilizing women in their prisons and the women don't even know it.

What? There are no hospitals in TX?
OH! This solves our illegal immigration issues here in the USA. Since Texas is now no longer rightfully a member of the USA given its repressive decisions, let's cordon it off and let Mexico know that all undocumented people can live in Texas since they wouldn't be violating US immigration laws! It's a perfect solution!

Arizona has lost $millions defending their recent spate of unconstitutional laws- it ought to be about the same in Texas- Yup, the "fiscal conservatives" are spending money again on useless causes.
The act of restricting abortion isn't always an issue of religion. Maybe its an issue of Liberty and Decency and Respect for Life. Just because somebody is pro-life doesn't doesn't make them Christian, or a member of any other religion at that. I think we need to show a little more respect for ourselves.
Just like republicans – if you don't win, cheat. Those are "values" we can live without. I can't believe republicans are a legitimate party in the US – they are very much like backwards thinking muslim men.
