Harry Reid mix and match with MLB teams

(CNN) – Nevada doesn't have a major league baseball team, so Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has to borrow some of his sports allegories from others.

In a speech on the Senate floor Thursday, the Nevada Democrat was trying to make a point about Senate disruption of presidential appointments when he referenced the manager of the Washington Nationals, Davey Johnson. Except Reid didn't call the District's home team "the Washington Nationals."

"Davey Johnson is a manager of the National Mets. This team we're so happy to have here in Washington," Reid said.

Reid's mix-up likely came from Johnson's own background as manager of the New York Mets, a background the Senate Democrat referenced a few sentences later.

Johnson managed the Mets from 1984-1990 and steered the team to a 1986 World Series title.

The mix-up has not gone unnoticed by Reid, or at least by whomever handles his social media presence. The Senator's Twitter profile posted a photo of Reid and Johnson an hour after his office was contacted for comment by CNN. Along with the photo, the tweet read:

Reid and Johnson

I used to grumble about and ask myself, "Why is it that the Democratic leadership is so quiet?" You almost never see them in the news. The Republican leadership has far more name recognistion than the Democrats. Why weren't the Democrats going on the Sunday shows, standing in front of microphones every night on the network news?

Thanks, Senator. You answered by question.

Can somebody please tell Harry Ried to put his teeth in before getting his picture taken! Time for Haryy to consider heading out to pasture. He's getting as bad as Biden with his nutty statements.

The current congress is the real reason behind Washington's current obstructionism. The record is clean 700 presidential appointments not filled in 6 yrs, 24 votes all that lost to end the ACA, 5-6 impeachment votes that went no where, investigations spending millions upon millions of tax payer money coming up empty handed. This starte in the late 1980's with the GOP and has continued filibustering, procedural dance steps to avoid votes, on and on and the Democrats didnt even start to get even until 1994 but are WAY behind. The GOP is the DO NOTHING PARTY the Tea Party is the right hand of this party but their credo is "UNDO EVERYTHING IF POSSIBLE" without rhme reason or understanding of what everything is. The ignorance and lack of human compassion that abounds with these bozos that think the USA would be better off with our laws resembling the 1850s instead of the 2010's.

If Obama hadn't, years ago, decided that he could, with impunity, treat half the team, and the people they represent, with dismissive contempt, he might have a whole team to work with. By aiming a big Screw you! at the GOP, and the half of the country represented by the GOP, with Obamacare, Obama burned a lot of bridges.

    MNClownfactory,

When the Democrats undertake to destroy everything this country once stood for, the right answer is to undo their destruction.

Reid is unAmerican because he doesn't know squat about baseball teams. And Obama is friendly with that filthy rapper Jay-Z, also. We get it, CNN.

    And Kerry. Yacht. And suchlike.

    Give it a rest.

Sorry but I just don't see why this is a big deal. Perhaps he is not baseball fan. Perhaps somebody on his crew did not do the proper research. Nats, Nets, Mets, Jets... So what??

Time to give it up Harry. Turn over the leadership to someone else and go back to Nevada and rest.
