DOJ tightens rules on subpoenas, warrants involving journalists
Washington (CNN) - Federal prosecutors can no longer obtain search warrants for information obtained by journalists unless reporters are the subject of a criminal investigation, a Justice Department official said Friday.
It is one key change in guidelines stemming from controversial federal investigations that resulted in efforts by prosecutors to obtain journalist records about reporting on national security issues.

Fine, as long as journalists aren't "free" to leak info that will put lives in danger. I foresee Fox News hacks abusing these new rules over the course if the next 3 years.

Pleas list the crimes and provide the factual arguments for why the elements of each have been satisfied. Go ahead. I'm sure you're well versed in it and know perfectly well what you're talking about, so it should be a simple 2-3 minute matter of typing it all out, right?
If the Press is engaged in trying to get government secrets, treat them like a spy. Most of this is just about 'scooping' the opposition, not revealing illegal activity.
One good thing about the Cheney government was, they had guts. Totally immoral, but they had guts.

This is a good idea. Reporters do a great service in keeping the people informed, i.e., Nixon and Watergate. There should be some guidelines and those laid out now are good ones. The GOP can go soak their heads. I have never seem a political party try so hard to become irrelevant. Speaking of which, Sarah Palin is thinking about going into politics again. Sigh. GOPer never learn, do they.

Holder LIED in an affidavit to the court saying Rosen was the target of the investigation, which they then claimed he was not. Bu twithout that statement, the court would not have allowed all the snoopy of Rosen.

With respect to the IRS, that's precisely why the GOP/Teatrolls have made a baseless stink the way they have. They desperately don't want the IRS scrutinizing whether these Teatroll groups are actually engaged in political activity to such an extent that should not receive 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status. It's not even the tax exemption that matters to them, either....it's the ability to keep donors secret...THAT is what lubes the gravy train.
As to the comment about China, I guess you haven't been paying any attention whatsoever to all the information coming out because of Ed Snowden about what the NSA and other agencies have been doing to spy on other countries, friend and foe both.

I did read the article yesterday, late, and I commented on it at the time.
I don't think expressing "disappointment and concern" is particularly bold, but at least Obama did NOT apologize, as W did when the Chinese knocked our spy plane out of the sky.
And I don't have any advise for our President on how to handle China; it's not a simple matter.
We are not in a strong position in the world, largely because the country is so divided. We are not a 'United' States, and countries like China, where the government has little need to answer to their people, can and will exploit our freedom, and divisiveness, as a weakness.
Not all problems have ready answers. But we can complain anyway.

That's not what the Affidavit said haha. Wow. There truly is NOTHING you guys won't conflate when confronted with contradictory evidence.

Indeed. They all do it. The pretend that the MSM can offer de facto immunity for anyone who leaks national security information, no matter what the information is, etc., because they have fought very very hard to define "whistleblower" in the mind of the public as anyone who simply leaks information about the gov't....and have done everything they possibly can to scrub any reference to the substance of the information leaked or whether there was any subjective or objective good faith basis to believe that it was, in fact, wrongdoing that they were "whistleblowing." Why? Same 3 words explain everything the MSM does: "Because ad revenue."
This whole administration is extremely corrupt and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortunately they're representing the law hence no action taken against the obvious criminals.
