Crossroads GPS takes a toothy bite out of 'ObamaCareNado'

(CNN) – Let it never be said that political groups don't know their popular culture.
Karl Rove-backed Crossroads GPS has a new online attack video criticizing Obamacare in a howling, chomping mass of fury and destruction that shall forever terrify the shark/tornado/health care-phobics of the world.
Parodying the SyFy network's phenomenon "Sharknado," the anti-Obamacare version is called "ObamaCareNado."
"Just when you thought it was safe to go to the doctor," the schlock-stick narrator tells viewers, "a rising tide of health care costs."
Tornadoes rip through scenery and people in the 47-second 'trailer,' bearing the faces of prime Crossroads targets like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, and of course the president.
"Nobody is safe from its wrath," the video says of "ObamaCareNado." "Leaving a path of destruction through our economy."
Crossroads GPS has delighted at going after Democrats on a variety of issues, including immigration reform and student loans. One of the largest conservative political groups, the organization spent $176 million in the 2012 federal elections, according to OpenSecrets.org.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have been just as eager to go after Obamacare in recent days, passing a pair of bills Wednesday night that would postpone the individual and business mandates of the Affordable Care Act. Neither bill is expected to go anywhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
The "ObamaCareNado" video came as Obama delivered a major speech Thursday morning touting the success of the signature legislation of his first term.
"Affordable health care is not some privilege just for the few," Obama said. "It's a basic right that everybody should be able to enjoy so we're going to keep fighting to secure that right to make sure that every American gets the care that they need when they need it at a price they can afford."
On Wednesday, a study was released predicting a drop in price of 50% for New York residents when the health care law takes effect next year.

Well we are talking about crossroads gps, and without a doubt they're the epitome of ridiculous and unbelievable.
Romneycarenado. What's their alternative? Oh yeah, they don't have one. They're against anything that helps the middle class, poor, minorities, women, gays, etc.
SyFy-Faux News Channel – What's the difference? Both channels have stories that no one in their right mind will believe.
At least their timing is good. Obama is about to report some actual facts about how the ACA is doing so far, and the contrast is stark-Obamacare is saving millions of people billions of dollars already, and it is still just gearing up. So it is wonderful that Crossroads picks now to show how much they still have their head in the,,,no, not sand exactly, a bit higher.
As a group health insurance underwriter, I set premium rates for large employee groups for 8 years; therefore I know how this works. The ACA is not perfect, because it is not single payer-it should have been a large expansion of Medicare. But it is a huge improvement over what we had, and eventually even most of the naysayers will realize that when it helps them personally too.

The irony is that, thanks to "Obamacare" New Yorkers are saving 50% on their medical costs. As other states come in with their figures it's only going to make crossroads look even more ridiculous and unbelievable

You go Karl, time to educate the public on how messed up Obama care really is. I know it cost me my full time job, since my company switched everyone to part time to avoid providing health care. Another social program that is going to FAIL.
How appropriate that the Crossroads would choose tornadoes as prop for their message: nothing more than fast-moving, substanceless air that does horrible damage to entire communities at a time. It's a perfect analogy for everything coming out of Crossroads' mouth.

I have one question for those of you who are always complaining about the Affordable Health Care Act.....DO YOU HAVE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE??? If you do you need to come up with some type of idea that will replace what the law does in a manner in which 35 million more Americans can get coverage. It is EASY to complain about something...IT IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to come up with an alternative.. By the way the ROOT problem here is not the healthcare insurance it is the skyrocketing cost of the SERVICES. I believe I recently read it costs $10,000 just to have a child in America and in other countries such as Canada, the U.K., Germany, it is at least 30% less. It makes no sense..until this is address, nothing will change significantly.

Really ?They ARE saving $ on the premiums but u know that it ( BRONZE and SILVER the cheapest plans)doesnt cover anything except a "preventative " annual visit at no cost. Hope you dont need meds.Cuz if you get sick it doesnt cover the the RX until U meet the annual deductibles. Or more than 3 visits a year $60 and the 5k and 2K deductibles on the BRONZE and SILVER plan BEFORE it covers any thing Oh yeah and your $350 ER cost before you meet it and it wont pay for meds until you hit those out of pocket deductibles.I will probably lose my better plan and get kicked into the exchange by my employer.I will pay more out of pocket expenses than before.My copay is now $70 a month for 5 Rx, will jump to over $500 month.I will have to get a lower paying job to Qualify for a subsidy. Affordable care act What a joke! I wont be able to afford the PLATINUM level which is the closest to what I have now.How many people in the BRONZE and SILVER plan will still not get medical care because they cant afford the annual deductibles EVEN if the pay NO premium for the plan ! If you qualify for Medicaid which if you already get with food stamps and You dont need OBAMACARE.The needy is already gettting state assistance.They should have expanded MEDICARE and set the rates according to income not age.

Rima49, if EVERYONE is compelled to have their own insurance coverage then EVERYONE'S medical coverage will decrease. What if you don't have insurance and you need all those things you mention above? What then? Do you just go to the ER and foist your costs onto me and others with insurance? Sorry babe – it's long past time for you to take responsiblility for yourself.

so a few people receive a few small checks. how many hundreds of millions of dollars is the government wasting to promote this train wreck? how many billions of dollars is the government wasting on obamacare navigators because nobody can figure this fiasco out, even the fools that passed it and are implementing it?
