‘Stop Hillary’ group ramps up anti-Clinton efforts

Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton may or may not run for president in 2016, but the conservative effort to derail her potential candidacy is already underway.

Iowa poll: Who wins a Clinton-Christie 2016 showdown?

The organizers behind Stop Hillary PAC, a political action committee quietly incorporated in May, are stepping into public view this week as they ramp up their efforts to harangue Clinton as she mulls over her political future.

On Monday, the PAC is announcing its leadership team, steered by Ted Harvey, a conservative Colorado state senator who was a vocal opponent of the recent gun control laws passed in the state.

Also coming on board are Garrett Marquis, a media strategist and alumnus of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign; Alex Shively, a former aide to Georgia Rep. Tom Price; Jacob Leis, a Colorado-based political strategist; and Dan Backer, a Washington attorney and lobbyist.

Those aren’t the most prominent names in Republican politics, but according to Marquis, that’s just fine. The PAC and its messaging are designed to appeal to grassroots conservatives and low dollar contributors, not traditional big donors.

Put another way, the group wants to be a boisterous party-crasher as the 2016 campaign gets underway, ginning up controversy and online contributions with barbed attacks against Clinton. To start, the PAC is releasing a video later this week “that will get a lot of attention,” Marquis promised.

Former top Obama campaign aides to advise Clinton effort

The organization’s plans to “Stop Hillary” are admittedly scattershot in these early stages of the race. Their portfolio could include “bracketing” events at Clinton appearances around the country, or local TV and radio ads, or social media efforts. If Clinton does decide to run for office, the PAC will be in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina waiting for her.

The point, Marquis said, is “to make noise” wherever Clinton goes.

“We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary,” he said. “We will play however needed, wherever Hillary is playing. If she endorses in the Virginia governor’s race, we will go there. Assuming she is active in Iowa, we will be there, too, and we will make some considerable noise.”

Clinton opponents plan donor meeting in New York

The group is separate from “Stop Hillary 2016,” a project initiated last month by America Rising, a new opposition research outfit helmed by former Mitt Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades and a pair of former Republican National Committee officials.

I am an independent voter who is turned off by negativity. I will vote for the more positive candidate!

Ted Harvey is affiliated with DISGRACED RINO John McAmnesty. While I support anything that exposes Hillary for the hypocrite she is I don't trust ANYTHING that is affiliated with MCLame. After all, he did turn his back on his own state of AZ. There cannot be many PATRIOTS in AZ who will hold their DISGRACED Soldier/Senator accountable. Another SAD state in this country like Duval Patrick's TAXachusetts.

Lacking a field of candidates with any appeal to independent, women, young, and minority voters , the Republican/Tea Party have reasons to fear a Hillary candidacy.

This effort will do nothing to affect the Democrat drone vote for Clinton to succeed Obama. Republicans/conservatives really need to wake up (or go away) and put forth a conservative platform with a conservative candidate. That hasn't happened since they lucked out with Reagan.

this country spends way too much time, effort, money, and good-will on election politics and tearing down of the country as cohesive whole undivided in its stance of equality and freedom for all – including women from further violence against women by the repubs or dems attacking women for the sake of an election

    enough is enough

You said you would be ready for that 3:00 a.m. call and where not. Please explain why you should be trusted with the country's safety when your supervision has already been proven to kill diplomats and heroes. And you then lie about it.

Here we go again !!!!!! Instead of the GOP telling us about their candidate and all the things that would be done for the citizens, they have to use the usual smear campaign tactics they are so famous for. The GOP is all for themselves and the very rich and have no desire to have a Congress that does the people's work. What happened to a Government of the people, by the people and for the people ????????? Shame on them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Republicans are so anti-immigrant that it is unequivocally Pathetic! For starters, they do like to impose their dictates when it is convenient for them as with wanting to interfere with a person's right to marry whom they choose which would not affect them one iota. They also like to use scare tactics and limit the right to vote by insisting people have this or that document now which has never affected voting in the past but which would only serve to Limit the Hispanic and Latino Vote most all of which is legit. And They Want To Limit Your Social Security Benefits Which You Have Rightfully Earned as well as Medicare while they use that money for their own pork barrel projects. You Must Therefore Put A Stop To Them in the next election in 2014 and then again in 2016!

This is exactly the kind of thing democrats do in every election. The difference is that they have the mainstream media in their pocket to do their bidding (denigrate foes), and that they aren't stupid enough to announce they are doing it. I'll be voting for anyone who is willing to even try to shrink gov't./spending.

So the GOP would rather do ANYTHING to stop the democratic election of a widely respected female polititian than spend time energy and money developing their own ideas and candidates? Are they kidding? There's now 2 superPACS with NO IDEAS only to STOP the DEMOCRATIC election process! And how is money going to equal results? Do they think negative attack ads on TV are really going to wirk? DO they really hate their own country that much?

Wow, simply incredible. How can a person with ZERO accomplishments and a WAKE of questionable dealings and decisions be allowed anywhere NEAR the White House? It would take some very seriously asleep people to give her the keys to the White House. Wait...looks like they're there. Hello Armageddon.

If Hillary runs she will win by a landslide.

The GOP needs a serious realignment before the party becomes extinct. Americans wants solutions to real problems not junior high tactics.

Sounds like what the democrats are doing in Arkansas. They are running an ad on TV against a guy named Cotton, a conservative, who has not even filed to run against senator Mark Pryor. . . yet.

I can see how this will play out already. It has nothing to do with the blatant corruption of the State Department under Hillary and her involvement in the Benghazi coverup. It's not that we want an honest, transparent president who will ditch the partisan charades and do what is best for the people of this country. If you attack Hillary, its because she is a woman! It is my sincere hope that we will not be fooled again by the pressure of political correctness, that we will judge this candidate based on her track record and her plans for America, and that she will not get special protection because she is a woman. If we allow ourselves to be pressured by the media and our peers to make a decision based on the color of someone's skin or someone's gender alone, than how can we really say we are aiming for equality and fairness? CNN thinks they can make you vote Democratic next election if they can continue convince you the opposing party hates women and doesn't want them to have rights. Complete garbage. I wonder where these multi-million dollar networks under enormous pressure of influence get the idea that they can use emotional irrational garbage to control your votes?

This article was hard to read honestly. If the Stop Hillary PAC had an actual point other than to just say NO to Hillary then it would be worth writing about. Conversatives are becomming desperate

The conservative world is crumbling and their worst fears are coming true. First they get a two term black President and now they are about to face off against an unstoppable woman as the Democratic candidate. This while their potential candidates look like rejects from the Bad News Bears! I'm rarely wrong but the last time around I said there was no way the Republicans could come up with a bigger pack of loosers than this time. I stand corrected! The only rational one is Chris Christy and they turned up their noses at him because he committed the sin of thanking the President and being friendly with him for helping out New Jersey. He acted sane and rational? Burn the witch!

HA! The Tea Party will never allow Chris Christie to be the GOP nominee. Hillary will be running against Santorum or Perry and in 2017 the RNC will officially disband.

Typical Republicans. Only tell people what your opponent is doing "wrong", not what you can do "right". There's a big reason the Republican party is in such a big state of decline. Nobody but anti-government nut cases votes Republican anymore, if your under the age of 65, anyways....

  21. tstorm92

As usual, Republicans only try to tell voters what their opponent is doing "wrong", never anything they can do to make things better. Conservatives are like a kid on a playground yelling, "Oh yeah, well you're a bigger one!" There's a good reason hardly anyone under 65 votes conservative Republican anymore...

db, detroit's bankruptcy has nothing to do with Obama. Please do some fact-checking before making such wild, outlandish accusations. The fact of the matter is that detroit has been underwater for some time. Perhaps you should ask the governor of the Michigan, or the mayor of Detroit? Perhaps some other officials that manage Detroit's finances?

Poor poor leftist (and leftists claiming to be independents) babies, just can't stand it when your own tactics are used against you. This is nothing compared to all the permanent progressive socialist/communist groups you have formed to not only discredit and character assassinate anyone who gets in the way of your agenda, but to discredit and destroy the economic system and the constitution that made this the greatest country on Earth. I won't bother to name all of them because we all know who they are anyway. Clinton is one of the most corrupt politicians of them all and it must never become POTUS of this great nation. Besides, she is still going to be held accountable for her failure to answer the 3am call from Benghazi. Would you all like a box of tissue to go with your whiny tears?
