Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton may or may not run for president in 2016, but the conservative effort to derail her potential candidacy is already underway.
Iowa poll: Who wins a Clinton-Christie 2016 showdown?
The organizers behind Stop Hillary PAC, a political action committee quietly incorporated in May, are stepping into public view this week as they ramp up their efforts to harangue Clinton as she mulls over her political future.
On Monday, the PAC is announcing its leadership team, steered by Ted Harvey, a conservative Colorado state senator who was a vocal opponent of the recent gun control laws passed in the state.
Also coming on board are Garrett Marquis, a media strategist and alumnus of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign; Alex Shively, a former aide to Georgia Rep. Tom Price; Jacob Leis, a Colorado-based political strategist; and Dan Backer, a Washington attorney and lobbyist.
Those aren’t the most prominent names in Republican politics, but according to Marquis, that’s just fine. The PAC and its messaging are designed to appeal to grassroots conservatives and low dollar contributors, not traditional big donors.
Put another way, the group wants to be a boisterous party-crasher as the 2016 campaign gets underway, ginning up controversy and online contributions with barbed attacks against Clinton. To start, the PAC is releasing a video later this week “that will get a lot of attention,” Marquis promised.
Former top Obama campaign aides to advise Clinton effort
The organization’s plans to “Stop Hillary” are admittedly scattershot in these early stages of the race. Their portfolio could include “bracketing” events at Clinton appearances around the country, or local TV and radio ads, or social media efforts. If Clinton does decide to run for office, the PAC will be in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina waiting for her.
The point, Marquis said, is “to make noise” wherever Clinton goes.
“We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary,” he said. “We will play however needed, wherever Hillary is playing. If she endorses in the Virginia governor’s race, we will go there. Assuming she is active in Iowa, we will be there, too, and we will make some considerable noise.”
Clinton opponents plan donor meeting in New York
The group is separate from “Stop Hillary 2016,” a project initiated last month by America Rising, a new opposition research outfit helmed by former Mitt Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades and a pair of former Republican National Committee officials.
She has been connected to way to many questionable events and the answers have been less than satisfactory. Remember a Snow Cougar does not change her spots.
The GOP offers NOTHING for the People of the United States.
The GOP only tries to hurt people like Hilary Clinton who would actually help the average person in America.
.
Boehner says he's determined to repeal laws, such as those that protect us from corporations, banks, and financiers. He'll be paving the way for Ms. Clinton's presidency; no amount of Stop-Hillary campaigning will be able to overcome that.
Too bad that her husband can't run again – he's the only one ( and I mean the only one) in recent history who has ever, (yes ever) gave this country a surplus. Trouble is : people attach the intern with the Clintons – and don't see, or cannot see past the accomplishments that Bill has done for this country. The main thing is the debt – we're sunk – If we (this country) doesn't get somebody that will at least try to tackle (the debt) & start bringing it down, or going the other way, we're done for – once the Chinese says that they want their $$$$$ – and this country cannot pay them, you better start your own gardens, believe me.
Just the mere thought of a Hillary run has republicans crapping on themselves – you can smell their fear. They know that a clinton run spells doom for them for another presidential cycle or two. The republican primaries are going to be a real hoot – it'll be tough to top the 2012 field, but this time around...paul, cruz, king, et al – definitely not presidential material, but rate exponentially high in comedic value.
The Republican Party needs to divorce itself from the Christian conservatives. The GOP needs to stop trying to tell everyone else how to live his or her life. The GOP needs to realize that pot-bellied, middle-aged, gray-haired men should not be trying to legislate what a woman can or cannot do with her body,
Unless and until those issues resolve, more likely than not, there will not be a Republican POTUS in the White House.
Hillary Clinton would be nearly unstoppable. She has national appeal, excellent appeal to the middle of the political spectrum and an opposition that seems to be bent on defining itself so narrowly that only those under the care of a state mental institution should apply.
I would not want to see someone that took responsibility for the murders of four Americans and then discount it. What a horrible person clinton is.
Hillary will make a great President despite the continued losing tactics by the GOP/Tea Party/Religious Right to damage her with whatever lies they can come up with.
It seems modern conservatives can only articulate what they are against, not what they are for.
This Nation is ready for a strong leader. I think that Obama was very good for this country but the Congress of this country was hell bent on holding him down and Bohner was to week to make a difference with the congress. Hilary will kick Butt in 2016 and the G O P is well aware of it. They do not have anyone that can stand up to her. Talk about rederick. They will throw the kitchen sink at her and she will brush it away. She is Very Smart and very cool. Let the battleing begin.
It looks like the far right gun-wackos have picked another issue to sell to the guileless.
The GOP is already scared of her before or if she ever decides to run. Pathetic.
How about we put a fresh face in the house and stop the same families govern us (i.e. Clinton's, Bush's, Cheney's, etc) we tried once with Obama, obviously he got corrupted like everyone else but hopefully in the long run we get someone that will stick to his promises. BTW I think term limits for congress and senate, are the way to go to keep corporate from infiltrating our politics.
The smell of GOP fear hangs heavy in the air. They will do anything possible to hurt Obama and Hillary because of that fear. The stink will drive away a lot of potential GOP votes including mine, leaving them with the christian right wing who are haters of women, racist, and who would take away individual rights, especially those of women.
Conservativism have become Fascism at it best!
We need to start a PAC to stop these crazy Tea Party member before they insitute a Taliban religious rule in the United states. When they say they are against anything Hillary is for that is scary. Regardless if it helps the American people they will be against it just to make Hillary look bad. This is just crazy.
Character assassination by way of stalking. Can't win with your policy positions? Stalk and destroy appears to be the Republican/Tea party strategy.
It's no so much fear of Hillary but the long-term impact. If she is elected and serves two-terms, imagine what the Supreme Court will look like for a generation. If she is on the ticket, see what her coattails pull in.
2016 belongs to Hillary and the GOP knows it that's why they are crapping on themselves and panicking. Meanwhile Hillary is somewhere relaxing. LOL!! #45Hillary
Hillary and the democrat attempts to conceal shortcomings are their own worst enemies. Up front and honest would be a refreshing change.
Is the Tea Party that afraid of 1 person?
The Republicans are such a sideshow. I love watching them shoot themselves in the foot over and over.
2016 is going to be soooo much fun.
Hilary 2016
I don't care who you like, what party you are or how you make or don't make your living.
Google and then read "There is only the fight" an analysis of the Alinsky Model – written as a partial thesis by Hillary D. Rodham, 1969 Wellesley College (all copy right reserved)
She supports Socialism. She was enamored with Alinsky. She said in an interview in the White House when her husband was President that "the American people don't know what they need...we know what they need". Arrogance coupled with control. Yeah, that's a dictator in the making. Think Obama's dangerous (he is) Clinton will be worse.
Ha! An alumnus of John Mcain's campaign. Yes that will REALLY help them, that whole shebang was so successful..
