Senior administration official: Moscow summit was probably going to be canceled anyway
(CNN) - President Barack Obama's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow that the U.S. called off Wednesday was probably going to be canceled anyway, a senior administration official told CNN.
"We just hadn't gotten any traction" on issues that the summit would have addressed, including missile-defense and a reduction in nuclear missiles, the senior administration official said. Attempts to find common ground on economic and trade agreements also were problematic.

Well, the Snowden dust-up has provided a convenient excuse to allow all concerned to not bother wasting their collective time - our time, too - with pointless talks.

looks like obama has finally gotten enough of playing doormat for the russians. i'm sure putin was very prepared to rub his face in the dirt yet again. it is better that our weak president not embarrass himself and the country any further.
The real issue, is Putin doesn't like Obama very much. Perfectly understandable.
Obama has enough dogging him now. Why muck it up even more with a weak conference with Putin. Putin is trying to re-invent the old soviet union. Come to think of it, so is Obama.

He probably doesn't. Many rural Russians believe black people have tails, too. No, the real issue is that Putin dislikes American presidents. Bush snubbed Putin thoughout both of his terms in office. Bush was, diplomatically speaking, very hostile towards Putin. Putin is paying America back. And, no, I'm not blaming Bush. I'm just reciting the facts.

Wow, dude. So Putin is doing this because he doesn't like black people. Yeah, that makes sense. And, once again, yes you did absolutely blame Bush (I get it, it's not you're fault, you've just been led that way by your master Obama). And here I kept being told that Obama was going to improve our relations with foreign countries. Do you really still believe that mumbo jumbo? Please look at the polls of world opinion of the United States. They are lower since Obama took office.

Indeed it is. Putin doesn't like him for the same reason most of the RWNJs in this country don't like him...and we know EXACTLY what that is.
