(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Iowa next month to deliver the keynote speech at Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry, an aide to the vice president - and potential candidate for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination - told CNN's Jim Acosta on Sunday.
An Iowa Democratic official also confirmed Biden's upcoming visit to Harkin's steak fry, which typically attracts a high-profile crowd of national Democrats. Its setting in the first-in-the-nation caucus state makes it a natural stop for potential White House hopefuls.

(CNN) – President Barack Obama’s assertion Friday that Edward Snowden was not a patriot for leaking details about top-secret American surveillance programs was brushed aside Sunday by Snowden’s father.
Lon Snowden - who says he is traveling soon to Russia, where his son has been granted asylum - suggested instead that Edward Snowden had put himself at great personal risk in order to inform Americans about the data their government collects.

(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday that his organization’s planned debate boycott was focused on NBC and CNN – which plan to air films about Hillary Clinton – and not companies which may produce those projects.
Priebus, speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” was responding to a question from Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley about a report in The New York Times that Fox Television Studios was in the “early stages” of talks to produce NBC’s miniseries about Clinton, set to star Diane Lane. Fox Television Studios is a corporate sibling of Fox News Channel and the Fox broadcast network.

Los Angeles (CNN) - San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, facing a growing tide of sexual harassment allegations, has completed two-week intensive behavior therapy and will begin outpatient treatment, according to his lawyer.
In a statement, attorney James Payne said Filner began treatment on July 29, a week earlier than the mayor previously told reporters he would start. Filner was to complete that phase of treatment Saturday, Payne said.
