Longtime political journalist Jack Germond, ex-CNN analyst, dies

(CNN) - Jack Germond, the cantankerous political journalist whose brand of shoe-leather reporting made him a legend of the form, died on Wednesday.

He was 85.

    While I didn't agree with his liberal politics, I enjoyed watching him on the McLaughlin Group years ago. He wasn't a lying spinning machine like most liberals today. You knew he was giving honest opinions and positions. RIP Jack.

    In line with comments above – he was a no- nonense commentator. Honest and fact driven. Too bad today's generation of pundits are so driven by ratings and hard line opinions. I always enjoyed the Sunday morning show with Germond, Kondracke, Novak and Buchannan.
