Gingrich: Hillary Clinton to pursue 'left-wing ideas'

Boston (CNN) - Newt Gingrich is back to tangling with the Clintons.

In an interview with CNN, the former House speaker and presidential candidate accused Hillary Clinton of planning to pursue "left-wing ideas" in a series of upcoming speeches that may be setting the stage for her own White House run in 2016.

The former secretary of state announced her foray back into discussing the nation's pressing political issues at an address to the American Bar Association last Monday, a speech she used to sharply criticized voter ID laws recently passed by conservative governors.

"Anyone who says that racial discrimination is no longer a problem in American elections must not be paying attention," Clinton told the audience.

Clinton said she would continue to comment on a range of topics. Her next speech will cover "transparency" in national security polices at an event in Philadelphia next month.

Asked whether Republicans could defeat Clinton in 2016, Gingrich launched into an attack on the former secretary's upcoming speeches.

"First of all Hillary Clinton may beat Hillary Clinton," Gingrich told CNN Wednesday afternoon at a Republican National Committee summer strategy session in Boston.

"If she runs around the country and adopts a series of left-wing ideas in order to preempt the primaries, she may isolate herself so much from the average American that she defeats herself," he added.

A Clinton spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on Gingrich's remarks.

Gingrich, who will soon debut as a co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," grabbed the GOP's attention earlier Wednesday when he accused the party of having "zero" ideas for replacing the nation's new health care law.

The former speaker said his comments were aimed at getting the party and its consultants out of "the habit of attacking, attacking, attacking."

"In the long run that doesn't get you to govern," Gingrich told CNN. "To govern, people have to decide that they want your ideas, your solutions."

As for Clinton, Gingrich said he once saw the former Secretary as "unbeatable" in 2008. Her upcoming speeches, Gingrich added, has changed that assessment.

"I'm not going to come out and say she's unbeatable this time. Because in fact I think we have clear proof that secretary, Senator Clinton is quite capable of losing if she stays in the field long enough," Gingrich said.

Holy projection, Batman! But wait...the GOP/Teatrolls even invented the (supposed) solution...just get out the Bat-Etch-a-Sketch after pandering to the extremes and too can pretend to be a moderate in the general!!!!

Newetered should stick to telling his party to cut the crap and leave the prognostication to Silver.

hey there newtster . . That don't matter if she does, or doesn't . . . I would love to vote for a republican candidate in 2016, but the problem that I have is this : Where is she, or him ?? I'm talking somebody that who puts the voters First. and forget about the same old issues you guys keep pounding on. . . If you guys ever come up with a person that doesn't say or think that ""the female has mechanisms in her body that will shut itself down"" to prevent pregnancy, and say things like: "doing away with ahca" and work the whole time your in office to move this country backwards, and constantly are fighting the abortion issue, + the race issue, you guys are going to lose . . . I would love to vote for a moderate that didn't flip flop on every issue there is, or was . . . or say & thinks & believes the 47% issue . . . one that won't shut down more companies, sell them off, and place the profits in off shore accnts . . . and I would love to vote for some Sane republican who is at least a little bit towards the center, without bringing up all those issues which has been hashed, and re-hashed. . . and believes in the middle class people of this country . . .Just Sayin .....

Yet another ridiculous remark by Newt. What did you think she would pursue – a right wing agenda? It would be more beneficial to the Republicans if Newt urged them to get rid of their crazy fringe – you know – Rand – Cruz – King – Rubio – Palin – Gohmert – Perry – need I go on?

    Fair is Fair

Amazing... all of the sudden, the left, who normally despises anything Israel, is covering for Obama in anything that can be perceived as protecting Israel. The left is consistent in their inconsistency.

That's odd. I went through all the posts pertaining to Egypt and didn't see one single post "covering for Obama in anything that can be perceived as protecting Israel". Several posts – mine included – pointed out how cutting off aid to Egypt would be detrimental to Israel. That doesn't mean that any of those posters think that is a BAD thing, but thanks for jumping to conclusions!

Let's see. Now we have Newt joining in to demonize Hillary. . trying to portray her as far left. . as is Rush, Hannity, and even the very popular Reince Priebus. Too bad it isn't true. Hillary has worked from the center for her entire career. . .and supports a strong military but is a social moderate. She WILL garner the majority of US women votes in 2016, a fact that should terrify any GOP candidate after Republican stupidity last year.

People have no concept of what will happen if any mind altering drug, is legalized. No concept whatsoever.

  12. Wake up People!

I expect them to pull out all the stops in their attempt to discredit Hillary from now until election day 2016. They are going to try everything in their power just like they did with President Obama. They have Fox which is a 24 hours a day Obama bash-a-thon. I suspect it is now Hillary's turn. Rush, Hannity and Beck should be beaming. All of their minions are repeating their tall tales verbatim.

Gingrich has no room to talk when his affairs along with his disgraced speaker of the House. Hillary Clinton should never be considered for any public office ever again along with Gingrich. She was behind Benghazi every inch of the way. She came out over national T.V. in press conferences stating that it was the video that had our embassy torched, bombed and our Ambassador murdered days before Susan Rice used the video as the excuse. She was drunk half the time while Secretary of State and like it was reported Obama had her on a short leash, he had his reasons. Remember Vince Foster? Remember Rose Law firm and remember those files that kept disappearing? Shes no queen and shes no Angel. Do you really think the World will respect Clinton after Obama? If the democrats want to be respected again they need a leader with quality negotiation background and have a background of proven honesty. Bill Clinton had his faults but at least Bill Clinton had class along with worldwide respect, something Hillary doesn't have and it's not something your inherit. Shes has little to no class and throws temper issues when she gets cornered or doesn't get her way. Do you really think she cares for you... Ask Bill Clinton about those ash trays she threw at him or better yet ask the F.B.I. what they thought of Hillary Clinton when she was 1st Lady... look it up, you will be set back on what she is really like.
