President Obama golfs with Larry David

(CNN) - Wrapping up his vacation, President Barack Obama added a new name to his list of golf buddies: Larry David, star of "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

The president teed off with the "Seinfeld" co-creator Saturday at the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, on Martha's Vineyard.

They were joined by private equity investor Glenn Hutchins and former U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk.

David has a new movie out on HBO, "Clear History," which is set on Martha's Vineyard.

Obama is scheduled to depart the island off Cape Cod on Sunday to return to Washington.

Hope your vacation was pleasant, Mr. President!

I say *was* because, unlike some commenters, I can read and therefore I was able to learn from the text of the article that he will be returning to Washington today. So to all of you whiners impotently barking orders for him to 'get his butt back to work' he IS. I pay taxes, too, and I understand that the leader of our nation needs a break once in a while.

And to the people griping about how hard they work and yet can't go on vacations- I bet you also congratulate yourself on your excellent career choices in life and your fiscal responsibility. If you can't ever take a vacation that's either on you or your employer, so begrudging everyone whose jobs allow them to take time off is infantile. Personal responsibility is not complaining that other people have more fun than you do.

Playing golf is one of the main responsibilities of any good politician and businessman. Only uneducated Philistines and Cretens would think differently.

By now, all the "Christian" haters have attended their Sunday worship and are now applying their 'Christian' teachings on this Ticker.

    Eat your heart out haters.

    Looking good Mr. President.

@Liz: "It will be newsworthy, when Obama is not on vacation."

All presidents take vacations, and compared to other presidents Obama has not spent an excessive number of days on vacation. You just think that because right-wing talking heads spend so much time obsessing over his vacations, even when he isn't on vacation.

The record for the most days on vacation is held by George W. Bush, who spent more days on vacation than FDR, despite FDR serving three full terms. Ronald Reagan spent a lot of days on vacation as well.

This obsession you people have for attacking this president over total non-issues like taking vacations, using a teleprompter, and playing golf, all perfectly normal for any president makes it abundantly clear you've been brainwashed to hate this president. This isn't about policy disagreements, this is personal, and its irrational.

@BARRY SOETORO: "Obama's 9-iron is synonymous with Nero's fiddle. Party on, Barry Soetoro, party on."

Eisenhower played as much golf as Obama, and even had a putting green installed on the White House lawn, back when Republicans had enough sense not to care about such non-issues.

What's ironic about your comment is that it's actually you people I would compare to Nero. We face serious challenges in this country, challenges that demand serious debate, but all you people can do is bash liberals and attack the president over the biggest non-issues like vacations and golf. That's your "fiddle," and you're too busy fiddling to educate yourself about issues or engage in informed debate.

@JPM: "He is a complete failure at his job but in the Obama nation that is what you do. Miserably fail at your job and take a vacation. Truly not deserved at ALL!!!"

Your comments are the typical mindless regurgitations of Limbots and Foxbots. Obama is doing fine at his job. He hasn't been a great president, but he hasn't been the failure you people have been brainwashed to believe, and he's doing a much better job than his predecessor. If you were to look at rankings of presidents by presidential scholars you'd find Obama ranks much higher than Bush, who was the worst president since Warren G. Harding, who is widely regarded as the worst president ever.

Spewing your hatred for this president isn't helping solve any of our problems. If you really cared about our country you would spend that time educating yourself about issues and discussing them, not spewing childish nonsense to fuel your irrational hatred for this president. The time Obama spends vacationing and golfing are not at all out of line with that of other presidents. Attacking Obama over these kinds of complete non-issues is irrational and only shows your opposition to him is personal.

@Dem4life1976: "I didn't like Bush, and I am black, and I am not ashamed I am EMBARRASSED to have Obama represent this great land. This has nothing to do with race. Get that through your skull. This guy is a complete and utter failure as a president. #THE END."

Having personally observed nine presidents in action (I was alive when Eisenhower and Kennedy were in office but too young to pay any attention to their job performances) I can say without hesitation there is no rational basis for what you say here, even if it's not motivated by race.

Obama hasn't been a great president, but he's done a very reasonable job given what he inherited and the rabid opposition he's faced from Republicans. Most administrations have their scandals, mistakes, and failures. None of them are 100% successful in achieving what they want to achieve. None of them possess a magic wand to fix all of our problems or the problems in other countries. Obama has had some successes and some problems, which is pretty much true of all presidents.

You cannot know American history and rationally believe what you have claimed here.

Oh stop it. He can play golf with whoever he wants to. And he's right. We need to quit trying to run the world for everybody else. As far as John McCain is concerned, he's no foreign policy expert. He spent the entire time he was in uniform in a POW camp. Just goes to show he's a terrible pilot. Glad he didn't win the presidency. We'd be in a third war that wasn't paid for.

@jane stephen: "WHO CARES? should have returned to DCA to moniter the egyptian situation."

Why? Presidential vacations are not like your vacations. He never stops working. Wherever he is he is in regular communication with advisors, staff, has security briefings, monitors situations, is available if the Sec. of State needs to contact him, and so on. The notion that he can only function in his capacity as president if he's in Washington, DC is just silly.

Bush has the record for more days on vacation than any president (even more than FDR, who served three terms), including 77 trips to his ranch in Crawford, TX. He took vacations when we were at war in Afghanistan, when we were at war in Iraq, when the economy was collapsing, and I never heard anyone making a big deal about it.

Apparently now that we have a black president the president of the United States should never take a vacation, play a round of golf, do anything but work every waking hour of every day for eight straight years, at least according to the brainwashed nuts on the right.

The pittance of aid that the US sends to Egypt is just to keep a hand in the game. The Gulf States sends a hundred times over, and they are the ones who called the shots on this military impeachment of Morsi. McCain's brain is misfiring again.

This was a military impeachment. Morsi's gang, in 2 years, not only stripped women of basic rights, stripped non MB-ers of their livelihood, imposed draconian and bizarre rules on new business in Egypt, were in cahoots with the Mali and Northern Nigerian Boko Haram/Al Qaeda etc, and all were about to raze the pyramids. McCain – ever since 9/11 and before – has been under watch for his involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood and others more extreme than MB, in Egypt.

Entertainers playing together – but who cares? We really have no President that acts and thinks and works like a President. So much for "hope and change." He knows he is on his way out and I wonder what he will do without he buddies in the liberal press....but I do hope we see "change" in the coming elections – however, that said, I do not see any GOP emerging
to the front that will capture the nomination and win....we are in a said state of affairs in this country.
