Funding cuts hit 57,000 preschoolers

Washington (CNNMoney) - Federal spending cuts are hitting 57,000 children who would have started preschool in the next few weeks.

The Administration for Children and Families reported Monday that 51,299 fewer children will begin Head Start preschool programs and 5,966 fewer toddlers will enter Early Head Start programs due to the $85 billion in federal budget cuts called sequester.

Let me see now. If you have 57,000 pre-school age kids, then you need at least one adult per so many kids, (6?). I have to look that up, but I know that it is a single digit. This means 1000 pre-school teachers who were put out of work, and it's not like they can go to any another pre-school and apply for work, either. Mnay others would experience cutbacks, too.

In addition to the teachers, you would layoff some administrators, janitorial workers, health aides, and food workers. This is not good...this rippling effect. It takes money out of communities. Is this what conservatives mean by trckle down economics?

All of these politicians are back home in their districts claiming of how stupid their sequester vote was(Joh McCain). If you were a man/woman of principle, you would have not voted for it in the first place when you knew the adverse affect it would have on average middle class American families.

The rethugs don't care about children (until they can send them to war).
How else can they keep people uneducated so that they continue to vote for them and agains their own self interest? Got to start them young!

What about the facts? What about the fact that the sequester is the only budget bill that passed in the House prior to the deadline?

Tthe sequester is 2 things: First, its a failure on the part of the Obama adminsitration to realize how pointeless it is to negotiate with people who are reflexively disinclined to help the country. Second is that its a Conservative's wet dream: for years they ahve raved on about the size of government, and now, because of their own inclination to do nothing, its being reduced. However, ehen faced with the human cost of what they have always wanted to do, they are now screaming that "its Obama's fault!"

Right wingnuts in red nanny states get more back in tax money than they send in. They contribute nothing, but complain about money being spent on things other than republican unfunded wars.
