Vice President Biden to remain in Houston as son is evaluated at hospital

(CNN) – Vice President Joe Biden will spend Wednesday in Houston, according to his office, as his son Beau continues to undergo medical evaluations after feeling weak and disoriented on a family vacation last week.

Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware, is being tested at MD Anderson, a world renowned cancer treatment hospital, a source told CNN on Tuesday. Along with the vice president, second lady Jill Biden is also in Houston.

The vice president’s office first said on Monday that Beau Biden was being evaluated at a hospital in Houston.

The incident that prompted the hospital visit happened August 14 while Biden was on vacation. He began to feel "weak and disoriented following a long drive to Indiana," the Delaware Department of Justice wrote in a statement.

Initially admitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Biden traveled the next morning to the Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia to speak with his doctor.

The statement said Biden was discharged and spent the weekend at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

In 2010, the younger Biden suffered what doctors said was a mild stroke. His speech and motor skills were not affected.

Biden, 44, was elected as Delaware's attorney general in 2006. He served in Iraq for one year as a captain with the Delaware Army National Guard. Biden acted as a prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Philadelphia from 1997 to 2002.

He and his wife, Hallie, have two children.

CNN's Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Biden family. I hope the doctors arrive at a correct diagnosis soon, and can successfully treat the cause of Beau's illness.

    Such a wonderful family...

The Biden family is a very close knit family and the Vice President has already had a terrible loss years ago.
Hope all goes well for Beau.
