Florida lawmakers won't have special session on 'stand your ground'
(CNN) - Florida legislators won't hold a special session to take another look at the state's controversial "stand your ground" law.
While 47 state lawmakers voted in favor of holding a special session to discuss the law, 108 voted against it, Secretary of State Ken Detzner said in a letter Tuesday.

First of all, special session is PART OF FL's constitutional legislative and executive processes and is therefore PART OF the democratic process in FL. Second, his claim that a special session somehow constitutes the equivalent of a minority of the legislature overruling the majority and repealing the law despite a majority supporting it IS PATENTLY ABSURD. It cannot happen. What this really is, is more RWNJ opposite-day claptrap...right is wrong, up is down, constitutionally created democratic process is fascist tyranny, etc. The Teatrolls running FL are desperately afraid of having to defend the indefensible in a public forum that will garner national attention...you can smell it through the intertubez while reading this story.
Boycott FL.
I agree with Tampa Tim and I also don't intend to spend one dime there until the law is changed.
Thank you Florida, for NOT handing another PACIFIER to the AA's of this country! Enough is enough and it's about time to REVERSE much of the charges of racism that AA's love to toss about in the wind. If there were ever another race of people who are so confused about their own identities, it hasn't been discovered yet.

Good...SYG and the Castle Doctrine are good laws that give people the right to protect themselves from criminals.
The GOP pigs will be out after 2014 midterms.
There is no need the "stand your ground" laws. The legislation is flawed because people can fake defending when there is no need. The Martin murder is a clear example of people not caring to follow what police say when there is no impending violence.

This is no surprise.
The people of this nation needs to focus on North Carolina and it Republican Governor Pat McCrory, who with the funding of the KOCH Bros. are in the midst of destroying the rights of the people of NC. When will our Federal Government step in and say enough to the Republicans. When will our Federal Government declare these RADICAL Governors are TERRORIST. When people lose their rights and freedoms our Federal Government needs to step in and charge these American dictators. When people lose their rights to vote, and precincts are closed down, to create long lines, when early voting is stopped. This is losing the right to vote. When with our US Attorney General step forward and say enough.
Duh! So the gunshine state politicians are standing their ground for stand your ground.

Why don't you look up Williams past he was nothing but a thug to begin with.
The drink and skittles he had was two thirds of a home made drug cocktail the third was liquid cough syrup and he had that at home.
People wake up and just don't take the word of Jackson and Sharpe Williams was nothing but trouble in and out of school. You were only allowed to part of hi past not the whole story the man that shot him was found not guilty.
