Palin jumps onto defund Obamacare effort
(CNN) – The effort by some Capitol Hill Republicans to wield leverage in upcoming budget battles in order to defund President Barack Obama's health care law gained the backing of Sarah Palin Tuesday.
The former Alaska governor and one-time GOP vice presidential nominee said she was signing on to a petition launched by conservative U.S. senators who say they won't support any measure funding the federal government that includes support for Obamacare.

Hagel: 'We're ready to go' if order comes on Syria response
Washington (CNN) - With a flurry of diplomatic signals and activity, U.S. officials sought Tuesday to lay the groundwork for a possible military attack on Syria in response to last week's suspected chemical weapons attack that Washington blames on President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Secretary of State John Kerry both consulted allies and indicated potential imminent action by a coalition likely to include key NATO partners and regional powers.

Defund Obamacare supporters target top Republicans
Washington (CNN) - Conservatives backing a move to shut down the federal government if funding isn't cut off for President Barack Obama's health care law by the end of September are launching a tour starting Tuesday to put pressure on leading Republicans in Congress.
The first target of the push by Tea Party Patriots and ForAmerica is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. The groups are planning a news conference in Lexington, Kentucky, Tuesday, near McConnell's offices. The Republican is running for a sixth term in the Senate next year.
