We aren't the world's policeman, congressman says

Washington (CNN) - More than 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, mostly Republicans and some Democrats, sent President Barack Obama a letter demanding he consult with Congress before ordering any action.

Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, outright opposes any intervention.

Grayson's statement may be rather flamboyant , but he is essentially correct. The World needs to respond- not just America.

Congress is overstepping, tradionally, under presidents of both parties such actions are taken by the President – only war requires congressional approval.

So many posts I read here are against intervention. But I know, here is a republican – or I guess they're called rethugs, coming out against intervention, I guess that means all the left leaning posters will have to say he is wrong and that we should definitely intervene. As that shaft song goes,..."if you can't do the time, don't do the crime,...don't do it!!".

Demanding? Or what impeachment? Is this the way THEY addressed previous presidents?

I was personally "turned off" when I read the president doesn't think race has anything to do with opposition to anything and everything he does. Really? Do you truly believe they would be demanding a president of non-color to do something? This is downright disrespectful and ignorant but I have come to expect nothing less.

Wow! Someone finally wake up. Trouble is you (our illustrious elected officials), should have considered this long ago. Say sometime between 2002, and 2005. Now the entire country is bogged down, divided, and basically at each others throat because our elected elite failed to do the right thing.

while the united states is not the world's police force the united nations is. funding, training and supplying weapons to the rebels who ally with alqueda should not be considered; serious humanitarian intervention should have long ago been implemented.

I just did some research on Alan Grayson. In my opinion, I don't know how anyone could disagree with the man, but then there are those who can't comprehend simple logic.

I never EVER thought I'd find myself agreeing with ANYTHING Grayson says... however, he is correct on this one. There is nothing good that could possibly come out of this. The Assad regime has too many parties whose best interest is to keep him afloat, and they will do just that. IMO.

    What a mess.
