(CNN) - While many New York Giants fans in New Jersey will be cheering for their home team on Sunday, their governor will be in Texas rooting for the other side, the Dallas Cowboys.
Christie, a loyal Cowboys fan, will attend the teams' opening game while he's in the Lone Star State for three Republican National Committee fundraisers.

After the game, Christie headlines events Monday in Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, according to the RNC. The New Jersey governor also had a big role at the RNC Summer Meeting in Boston last month.
His trip to Texas will likely generate further 2016 presidential buzz, as the state is considered a major campaign oil well for national candidates. The RNC events will give him more opportunities to mingle with top donors in the state.
The New Jersey governor, who's up for re-election this year, explained his lifelong love for the Cowboys.
"I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. I know that that disturbs Eagles fans, Giants fans, Jets fans and probably fans of almost every other team in the NFL," Christie said Tuesday at a press conference, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger.
The Giants and the New York Jets are both located in New Jersey; the Philadelphia Eagles are based just across the river from neighboring New Jersey.
Christie told a group of elementary students in June that when he was a kid, he was a big fan of then-quarterback Roger Staubach. But there was another reason he didn't root for his home team.
"My father was a Giants fan and I used to remember watching him when I was eight, nine years old and every Sunday he would watch the Giants and yell at the TV set," the governor said. "I used to think to myself why would I want to root for a team that makes you angry?"
Christie has long argued that politics shouldn't steer a person away from their favorite team.
"Maybe some other people can be disloyal, but I can't. I'm for loyalty and I root for the Cowboys," he said Tuesday, according to the Star-Ledger. "When I am there on Sunday night, I will root for the Cowboys."
Christie appears to be a masochist!
I'm a Cowboys fan too. I remember watching the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders movie with Jane Seymour when I was a kid and that is what I wanted to be!!!
I still root for the Cowboys unless they are playing the Eagles (I'm in love with Michael Vick) or the Lions (home team).
Go Cowboys!!
But I still wouldn't vote for Christy!
Hey, Governor. I suggest that you wear a "Tom Landry" fedora for good luck. The Cowboys are gonna need it. Their record against the Giants has been abysmal that last few years.
Most Cowboy fans are proud of Romo's new multi-year contract...and as strange as it may sound, so are Giants fans. We celebrating the fhe fact that you're stuck with the guy for the next six years, because his contract is so expensive that he's untradeable.
He just lost my vote. Ha! As if I was going to vote for him in the first place. Go Giants! By the way, the Cowgirls shouldn't be called "America's Team" when they're governor threatens to secede from the Union.

"..when he was a kid..." Hmm. I'd bet that he had "the poster", too, and I'm not talking about Staubach. Every young fan just had to have one. You couldn't be a genuine fan if you didn't.
