CNN vote count: Obama long way from congressional approval on Syria
Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama still has a long way to go to secure congressional authorization for military action against Syria even after clearing a key hurdle in the Senate.
According to CNN, there are 17 "no" votes in the Senate and 24 "yes." Fifty-nine senators - almost the same number of votes needed to overcome any filibuster - remain undecided.

It doesn't matter whether they will vote yes or no. It is totally wastage of time. He has informed them already he will act in Syria whatever the case. If this people have a NO vote, why come early from their vacations in order to vote NO. Why can't they deal with other matters instead? I think they still have a lot to tackle.

You just gotta love the false statements being credited to Pres. Obama coming out of the right wing, particularly libertarians. It seems that they have twisted the administration's remarks, issued by spokespersons and not the man himself, that Pres. Obama does not need authorization from the Congress in order to act, but he is doing so out of a courtesy to The People.
I am decided that something should be done, but still believe the US should not go at this "alone", nor lead. Maybe a non-military solution, like economic sanctions, or something else in that non-violent direction.
This is going to be interesting. How many Repubs will now decide to vote no? These guys just don't have it in their blood to ever vote with Obama.
While the world watches the GOP teaparty losers, bland , the Canadian jack ass cruz and the Cuban anchor baby Rubio and the teatroll lee are just embarrassing themselves and the Republican Party with their opposition to a policy they approve of in private just to make Obama look bad. When the next chem attack occures in the world, your on your own thanks to the cowards in the. GOP and some dems. Who will have blood on your hands. I hope. It's in your districts and don't expect any help or simpithy from anybody, morons and cowards!!!!!!

how nice the emperor pays us serfs this courtesy through our representatives. and then the emperor will spit in their face and ours should they decline authorization, and act with his imperial powers using 'his military'.

We have no trade with Syria, so sanctions would have to originate from elsewhere
America should NOT execute strikes on Syria, period. We must have and participate in a united approach from the world population to deal with this. This is not America's war, this is a situation that the U.N. must address in a united way. This is not the school playground where someone needs to go and beat up the bully. Too many lives are at stake. The war mongers will insist, but that doesn't make them right.

btw, gas being elsewhere is far more likely if obama attacks syria and weakens assad to the point he loses control of those weapons. with aq already there and crawling allover syria, how long do you think it would take fro them to get their hands on some of them. and how long do you think it would take before they were used against americans? assad has vested interest in keeping them under his tight control so they won't be used against him and his forces.
