Amid tensions, Obama to meet with Russian gay rights advocates

(CNN) - President Barack Obama is set to meet with Russian civil society leaders Friday, an event likely to touch on the sensitive subject of gay rights in the nation amid tensions over Syria.

Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law passed by parliament that bans the public discussion of gay rights and relationships where children might hear it. Violators can be fined and, if they are foreigners, deported.

Blatant smack in the face to Putin. I'd sure like to see when the President returns to the states that he has Snowden with him. What a pipe dream that is.

Nice move. Remember folks, Putin has his U.S. embassy in D.C. trying to contact and set up private meetings with the leading members of Congress.

if Vladimir wants to ban it in his country – he should have the right to do so, period. The U.S. should not meddle with other countries affairs, and not meddle into other countries laws, or try to change their laws, period.

That's the way it is, when a country is under a dictator. It's been that way, since the beginning of time. When Julius Caesar was the "top dog" at the time, people that lived under his regime, had to abide by the rules him & his cronies put forth. Why does this country have to constantly nib into other countries business ? No wonder "Paul" had such a following. Too bad he's a bit extreme, at times
