Op-ed for Op-ed: McCain to strike back in 'Pravda'

(CNN) - Responding to Russian President Vladimir Putin's controversial opinion piece in the New York Times, Sen. John McCain jokingly told CNN's Jake Tapper he'd like to write a commentary for Pravda, the historic Russian newspaper connected to the Communist Party.

Well, now it looks like McCain may get his wish.

According to Foreign Policy's blog The Cable, the editors of Pravda have tentatively agreed to publish an op-ed by the Arizona Republican. The opinion piece will most likely reflect McCain's strong negative views toward Putin.

"We have to remember who Putin is. He's a KGB colonel apparatchik, who has never abandoned the Russian ambitions for an empire, and influence in the world," McCain said Thursday on Tapper's show, "The Lead."

Dmitry Sudakov, the English editor of Pravda, told The Cable that if McCain wants to write an op-ed, he is "welcome."

"Mr. McCain has been an active anti-Russian politician for many years already," Sudakov continued. "We have been critical of his stance on Russia and international politics in our materials, but we would be only pleased to publish a story penned by such a prominent politician as John McCain."

A spokesman for McCain told The Cable that McCain "would be glad to write something for Pravda, so we'll be reaching out to Dmitry with a submission."

McCain looks like he lost it. He has not learned from what happened in Egypt and Libya after the islamist hijacked the freedom movement and tried to move the Country to the dark side. Now McCain wants to do the same with Syria; in the name of democracy hand down the country to the dark side. Mr. McCain please cool down.

John McCain can respond all he wants. He should resend to President Obama administration and let it go because is not in the same party. Kerry and the United States can do what they want and put what stipulations on this deal they want. But like JFK on the Cuba deal Russia should put a stipulation if the United States mess this up or bomb Syria the will send nuclear tipped ICBMs to the United States main land.

That's just great....McCain has to go flapping his lips in having been upped on by Putin. This may stir up the hornets nest and lead us back into a stand off with Russia and Syria. We put these people in office, listening to there propaganda that they will represent "we the people". I can't wait for the next episode of Judge Jeanine Pirro's commentary on "opening statement".

This just in – police say the Senator John McCain has been taken to hospital suffering from some form of nerve gas attack. They tell CNN that his symptoms are eerily similar to the Russian national who subsequently died several years ago in England!! The investigation continues.

Senile John, give it a rest. Most of what Putin said is 100% accurate. The US is not the center of the world.

Thank you President Obama for standing up for the innocent children in Syria, especially when Americans chickened out thinking that Iran and Syria would whup us.

Because we have a strong President who didn't blink, Russia forced Syria into a diplomatic solution.

Bomb Bomb McCain – you could learn something from President Obama – speak softly and carry a big stick. It WORKED!

McCain was stupid enough not to respond to W's lies in the 2000 primaries. Then he blieved the W lies about Iraq.
Then he wants war with every country in the Middle East.
    He has serious mental proiblems.
BTW, Putin was right. What is exceptional about Americans? NOTHING except their hypocracy.
Reagan and Bush41 sending chemical weapons to Saddam and supporting the Taliban and Bin-Laden. Great policy, that really worked, right

McCain will say and do anything for another war. Since 1945 we have bombed 23 countries. No other nation comes close to the lives we have killed. And it's because of people who think like Mc Idiot.

You mean like the u.s.a's foreign policies since the end of ww2? McCain's a worthless p.o.s., just like EVERY american politician. Worthless wastes of life.

McCain's probably mostly butthurt because Putin said we're not exceptional.

Newsflash: Americans are not, by definition, exceptional. We're NOT #1.

Whether Obama got us into this political mess, or not is a matter of personal opinion. However, having McCain cause offense by writing a snide response to Putin's comments has no merit. None whatsoever. McCain seems to be more concerned with keeping himself in the news than actually finding solutions to issues, or making a bad situation better. Time he took himself off to a retirement home and made negative comments about his carers, rather than playing at being a 'maverick' in the international political arena.

John McCain is a Viet Nam Veteran and I am too. That being said, the fact we went to war doesn't necessarily qualify us to go out and solve the worlds problems. I suggest he retire while he's behind and perhaps he can save some face he lost trying to make Sarah Palin accountable. You've done your time in hell John, let's go fishing.

Leave it to McCain to offer to write an op-ed for Pravda, which nobody reads anymore. Pravda is a minor player in the Russian media today.
