Bush: Obama 'ought to play golf'

(CNN) – Former President George W. Bush is defending his successor's frequent trips to the golf green. In an interview with the Golf Channel, Bush called golfing "an outlet."

As first reported by the Washington Post, Bush, who quit playing early in his presidency to avoid appearing insensitive during wartime, said he disagreed with critics of President Barack Obama's who say the president shouldn't play. "I think he ought to play golf," Bush said.

"I know what it's like to be in the bubble. I know the pressures of the job, and to be able to get outside and play golf with some of your pals is important for the president. It does give you an outlet," Bush said.

"It's good for the President to be out playing golf"

Obama has been known to play golf frequently during his vacations, one of his preferred pastimes along with basketball.

The full interview with Bush will appear Tuesday night at 10:30 p.m. on the Golf Channel's "In Play with Jimmy Roberts."

Are we really talking about golf?!?! At least Pres. Obama golfs in private and not in the eye of the media and boast "now watch this drive."

Yes, and GOP presidents have set such a wonderful standard for their work ethic. By the way, the GOP are the ones pulling all the kindling and flammable materials into a huge pile, pouring the gasoline on and throwing the match, then complaining about the response while they block access to the blaze.

That's nice of Dubya to say.... if anybody knows about relaxing while on the job it would be him.
Quite frankly I don't care what this Have-Bags-Can't-Travel-Anywhere ex-prez has to say about anything.
Do what you have to do to relax Mr. President, keep your mind focused, and keep you from strangling the nearest Rethugliklan.

Most of those who whine about any President golfing, cutting brush, horseback riding or sailing are people who dislike that President and are looking for something, anything, to fling at the wall to see if it sticks.

Okay dummies – the President of the United States is not a drone chained to his bench or locked in his cubicle in Dilbertville, allowed out once in the morning, at noon for a half hour, and once in the afternoon. He lives with his job ALL the time- even when he's golfing or walking the streets of Martha's Vineyard or riding in the hills around Santa Barbara. Responsibility for the existence of many of Earth's creatures – us included – depends on decisions that are his to make – not Ted Cruz's, Mitch McConnell's or Rand Paul's – but his. So back off, get back to your cubicle and do what you're paid to do. That means you idiots in Congress.

That's right Mr. President, do whatever you have to do to relax and not commit homicide against the traitorous GOP.

We ALL need down time regardless of how busy we are.
A president is on duty 24/7/365 for the haters who probably don't take their vacation or have some down time.
    Yeah, sure.

I'm really baffled by the comments on Obama's shorts, seriously I think he looks good in them. Kudos to Bush for sticking up for Obama.

don't blame the community organizer in chief to play golf – Dubya is right – he needs an outlet – the bonehead & company has his neck in a Vise anyway. When he comes back from Golfing, they will keep turning the crank on that Vise, ( like Uncle Fester) it's sort of like keeping the "pressure" ON. I mean, he's only got 2.5 yrs. till he's a Lame Bird, right ?
