Fact Check: UPS dropping coverage for spouses
ASSERTION:
Companies are cutting benefits because of Obamacare.
FACTS:
Several employers – including UPS, Delta, Univ of Virginia, Trader Joes, Home Depot – have recently announced changes to their employee benefits and cited Obamacare as the reason for the pullback. While it is true that Obamacare is raising costs on employers, there are other factors increasing costs, such as the improving economy. (People use more medical care when the economy is healthier.) Also, companies have been shifting costs to employees for years. While UPS will no longer provide benefits for spouses with coverage options elsewhere, it is not the first company to do so.

VERDICT:
Misleading. Obamacare is contributing to the benefit cuts, but is not the sole reason.
In other words, their reasons are not Obamacare, but Obamacare is their EXCUSE.
MISLEADING: While UPS will no longer provide benefits for spouses with coverage options elsewhere, it is not the first company to do so.

That's a really, really bad policy. Many times a couple will have one full time worker and an on-again/off-again part timer, who spends most time with their kids. Requiring the part timer to accept the coverage when it is available, puts the part timer at risk between times of employement. It also raises the question of dependent children, and which working parent can or cannot, must or must not, cover the kids on their eimployment plan.
Thank you for doing some actual research. Most of the attacks on the Affordable Care Act seem to be misleading in some way. The bill is by no means perfect, but I think it's a much better foundation than people realize. If only Republicans would devote some energy to making the law better rather than constantly devising schemes to repeal it the country would be much better served.
The devil always tells lies to scare people and get them to do the dirty work and the GOP are no different. They fell in lockstep with the TP'ers and now can't control them. As long as they got their votes they lookd the other way. These companies were probably promised something from the GOP to come to the media and say this. They will do anything to defeat the President and that is a fact.

This article even says "rates are going up because of obamacare" Seems like it was just yesterday that you guys were spouting that costs would come down? Just look around, not just on cnn or msnbc, Ever hear of the Cleavland clinic? cutting jobs directly because of this bill. this is just the tip of the ice burg, I can't wait until all the unintended consequences kick in, but you still won't admit that this bill is BAD NEWS! WAKE UP!! There are better ways to fix healthcare. The republicans have had several ideas... but oops you probably didn't want to research those did you? because your precious cnn and msnbc didn't tell you to.
