Bush 'doing pretty good' after heart procedure

Washington (CNN) - Former President George W. Bush said he's "doing fine" after having a stent placed in his heart last month.

"Other than the fact that I nearly bled to death when I nicked myself shaving because I'm taking blood thinner, I'm doing pretty good," he joked. "I thought you were going to have to put a tourniquet on me."

"I'm doing fine," he added. Bush comments came in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America" while the former president was hosting the "Warrior Open," a golf tournament in Dallas for wounded warriors.

The 43rd president also weighed in on his new role as a grandfather. His daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, gave birth to Laura 'Mila' Hager in April.

"Captured, completely captured," Bush said, describing what it feels like to be a grandparent. "It's a joy to watch Jenna mother; it's a joy to watch Laura be a grandmother."

"I was telling Laura the other day I can't wait to be able to take Mila around the ranch and answer all her questions about the trees and the animals and the grasses," he added.

Bush also talked about the difference between being a grandparent versus being a parent.

"It's like a practice session in basketball versus the full court press. You can show up and love–and pass back. It's a great experience," he said.

I don't believe for one second that Dubya was a bad man.
He allowed himself to be led (read misled) by those around him something that would have never happened if he had not kept himself willfully ignorant of facts. But stupidity and being a nice guy does not absolve him.
He's guilty of dereliction of duty, mismanagement, lying, and the subsequent unnecessary deaths of men and women in and out of uniform here and abroad.

Sorry, my memory isn't as short as most on this comment list. GWB was the worst president in the history of our Union for reasons too lengthy to air here.

Last month, GWB couldn't attend the Martin Luther King "I Had A Dream" memorial with the other living Presidents because he was "still recovering from heart surgery". Yeah, 3 days later he "feels great" while speaking with Brian Kilmeade live from the golf course.

This lib will NEVER forget this man's crimes as Governor and President.

To put a tour tourniquet on him to stop the bleeding, you'd probably have to put it around his neck. C'est la vie . . .

Can't believe people actually likes this guy. He started 2 wars for no reason, killed over 130,000 people, devastated hundreds of thousands of lives, decimated 2 countries and caused the second biggest global recession the world has ever seen putting millions out of work and leaving thousands homeless. There's a special place for people like him and his wife in hell.

wow – as president he took more vacations and spent more time working out than any other Oval Office occupant, so wonder what the heart issue was. I do hope he recovers even though I thought he was an awful president, way in over his head.

But wait, it was government run healthcare, how the heck did he survive? All kidding aside I'm going to say something you'd never hear the hateful republicans say about a president they didn't agree with but I hope he does well and has a speedy recovery. I wouldn't cross the street to shake his hand, I think he was a horrible president, but he was still our president and due our respect. You'll NEVER hear a teapublican say that about Obama.

It looks like Mr. Bush has found his sweet spot in life. I didn't like the friends he surrounded himself with in the White House, and didn't like his choice of language a lot of the time, but I always figured him for basically a friendly, pleasant individual, and I find that I like his painting style too. I'm sure he'll be a terrific grandfather. Ranches are the ticket for lots of guys like him. – A Rancher's Daughter.

caused the second biggest global recession the world has ever seen MBANE? if you're younger than 16, than disregard and carry on (it would make substance of your post more understandable), otherwise read a history book...on that of US housing policy for 35 years leading up to said recession. If a sitting president can be blamed for that recession, then most of the blame needs to be laid on Bill Clinton. And yeah, the war in afghanistan was started for no reason, just like our entry into WWII.

best wishes on a speedy recovery president bush, from a libertarian.
