It's unfortunate that obama could not stand up and deal with the issues before the axe is falling on our necks. He is one of the most reckless and useless individuals I have ever seen in political office let alone the presidency.

The great leader has proclaimed something, so CNN will assume it is true. This is as much on the Dems as the Reps currently. OC is not popular and on this issue the people are with the Reps. The Dems are so concerned about avoiding the appearance of a setback, that they are willing to crash the economy to protect their disaster. Of course, they know that their media friends will try their best to frame the issue around blaming only one side.

How we got to this place is beyond me.

Many here feel our military doesn't deserve to get paid on time is straight up SHOCKING.
To these commenters, its "no big deal".

Meanwhile OUR soldiers and their families need to pay mortgages and their own bills.

The Republican House already did pass a clean funding bill. They funded the government minus the steaming pile of dog poop known as Obamacare. It doesn't get much cleaner than that for the American people. But Obama and the Democrats are insisting on forcing that steaming pile of dog poop down the throats of the American people and are willing to shut down the government in order to make you eat it "willingly".

Avoiding shutdown is simple: Democrats just have to quit acting like dictatorial jerks.

I was overseas when the Congressional Bank fiasco happened and US Treasury checks became uncashable, nobody wanted US paper promises. The only value the dollar has is in the faith that it has value, so talk of default risks more than a S&P bond rating drop.

The Affordable Care Act is LAW. I expect my elected legislators to uphold the law, not hold the government hostage because they differ with it. Childish.

So the GOP wants to use this government shutdown as a means to try to smear the president. If thats not a case of severe retardation, I dunno what is.

If the Republican party feels it is worthwhile to damage the American economy for 100s of millions of Americans, many struggling to keep housing and food on the table, so that they can win concessions, it is time for the Republican party to secede from the Union.

OMG! The end of the world is near! Parks closing, cats and dogs living together, etc. Those darn Republicans! How come the President cannot DELAY his ACA one year? He's delayed so many parts of it already!

    September 30, 2013 05:23 pm at 5:23 pm |
  21. Raymond

The ACA is not ready to be implemented! Why not take a year and work out the issues? Because this president is so arrogant and just like in Syria with his ridicules red line; he would rather destroy this country and the will of the people just to save face!

"You are an instigator. I raised one daughter who would continually try and pit herself against her two sisters. Thankfully, she got beyond the childishness and has become a remarkable women in her own right. I hope at some time in the future, you'll understand and heed my comment. For your own betterment. Not mine, or DM4O.

As it is, one of the reasons I've decided to stop blogging politics is because of those such as yourself. While you pretend to not favor one side over the other, you are in your glee when pitting one side against the other. As an adult, I find this totally unacceptable and not worth the bother of listening to day after day."

It is this kind of lack of perspective or self awareness of the left that is so frustrating. So...let's see here, I am an instigator because I have a difference of opinion from you but Sniffit, Rudy, rs, DMFO and the rest are not? They have called the repubs terrorists, teabaggers....I couldn't even write all of the names that your side calls the repubs.

And I have never said that I don't prefer one side over the other. I have constantly said that I prefer the repubs as the lesser of 2 evils. But that's the difference between people like you on the left who think the govt is good and that one side actually cares while the other is just a bunch of mean spirited, hateful people. I know that they are all politicians and don't care about you, me or DMFO. They just want money, power and to be re-elected. It's the naivete of the left that is so bewildering. And how do you expect me to not challenge DMFO when she says something like she said earlier. Is that not an outlandish statement...there are repubs who don't want to fund the govt so Obama can be in harm's way? Wow.

What everyone seems to forget is that our President watched his mother die of cancer while being hounded by insurance companies refusing to pay for her final days. He promised her that he would fix things if possible, this is not a President running loose he is on a quest and who among us could blame him!!! We should be applauding him for honoring his mother's legacy a legacy called the affordable care act!!!
