Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

I love people who blame guns, or think that gun control would do anything. Nutjobs will be nutjobs no matter what. If they have no access to a gun they will do it with something else, hence the stabbings a few months ago. Besides that most crimes are not committed with legal guns anyway. Thats why Brady Bill is a failure ( Gun possession by criminals has risen in the post-Brady years – 18% of state prisoners (was 16% before Brady) and 15% of federal prisoners (was 12% before Brady) were caught with firearms.23)
And NO most people dont want stricter gun control: 2012 annual Gallup Poll reported that 59% of Americans thought gun laws were properly set and 8% wanted them to be less strict.
The problem is upbringing, and/or the reliance of unneeded legal drugs. We've become so dependent on Ritalin, Adderall etc. since they are prescribed for everything, then when people stop taking them, they are worse then ever.
So easy to blame guns rather than how humans themselves act, behave or respond to the world.

That's what happens when you mess with people's money and livelihood. It's only going to get worse until the GOP gets off their butts and gets government going again.

this has nothing to do with gun control. For anyone who thinks this act can support their selfish argument for gun control they are extremely mistaken. It is time we as americans stand up for what works best for us and take our country back and stop putting crooked people in places of power. REMOVE political parties. It is time to restructure everything and do so by tackling each topic individually!!!! We are a country based on certain morals and values and it is time to evolve by starting fresh!

@ShawnDH, no 90% support someone enforcing the laws we have.

This nation has hundreds of gun control laws and most are just ignored. Most American's know that which is why we do not support making more laws that everyone ignores.

You want to solve the gun problem. Figure out what makes someone go crazy and fix that.

I don't know in whose America you are living ShawnDH, but in the rest of it we are not wanting more gun control. Criminals and crazies will always be able to get their hands on guns, no matter the laws. They do not obey the laws! So that being said, gun control laws will only affect the law abiding citizens. I do not believe that we would have as much of a problem with people being shot up or killed if we as the American public have a way to protect ourselves and our neighbors from people who would try to shoot others. People who obey the laws of this land are the only ones affected! 90% of the people do not want more laws! Enforce the laws that are on the books already!!! Stop trying to control the people who are obeying the laws. Criminals are just that criminals and they do not care what the laws are!!! They do not follow the laws!!! How moronic can people be??!!??

All of the members in Congress today, are either millionaire's or billionaires:
They are minorities in our population of Americans, We common serfs are in the majority.
As history tells us, minorities have the right to dispose of those people.
I wonder if the shooting in our Capitol is a kind of start of something?

Well, go figure. There's an awful lot of mad people right now and the violence isn't really surprising. And Shawn DH and Yeoman remember that the criminals can always get guns. Can't blame it on the normal person who just wants to protect their family. If you take away guns from the honest citizens then the only people who will have them are the bad guys.

In D.C.? It's probably an argument between a crack dealer and their customer ... and has nothing to do with the government.

The very fabric of what our country has stood for since 1776 has now become a playtoy to the Republicans and their Tea Party masters. Do we really need another REVOLUTION to keep these people in check; or do we vote them out in 2014?
