Wild car chase ends with suspect shot to death near U.S. Capitol

Washington (CNN) - She had a 1-year-old child inside and apparently was unarmed.

Instead, the motorist's black Infiniti, according to authorities, itself became a weapon Thursday afternoon, first striking a security barrier and U.S. Secret Service officer near the White House before hurtling down some of the capital's most famous streets, police cruisers in pursuit.

Dramatic video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed. Gunshots rang through the traffic circle. The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away.

Love it! Someone took matters into their own hands. That was my idea! Stupid republicans! Will never vote for another republican again as long as I live. They never work with the democrats ever! When we have a republican president at least the democrats work with the republicans.

I just went through all 8 pages of comments so far, and the the frenzy of liberals screaming for more gun control, etc is what troubles me most. You folks are talking about how all these guns and crazy people are creating such a huge problem that we need to fix right now. But...let's look at the situation for a moment:the only people who did the shooting today were the police. The "suspect" actually just used their car to ram the treasury. Police fired shots at that person.

Are you going to scream for gun control after realizing this? News for you: when we reach a point where citizens believe the only ones who should have the power and most supreme rights are the government and police, then we are really in trouble!

You people clamoring on that the gun laws in DC don't work are morons. No doubt this weapon was purchased in Virginia just like in the Navy Yard shooting. If anything failed, it was Virginia laws allowing anyone with a pulse to own an assault weapon.

Did you NOT think this was going to happen. Our Government has turned into Royalty. They people suffer yet they get paid and one idiot tries to say why he needs it! It's on;y going to get worse as the classes split unless someone does something bold, final and equal. The answers are there, they just don;t want to do it The want to get re-elected. There is the Rub!
reduce terms of a Senator to 4 years. a House rep to 4 years, two term MAX and this problem will go away. Politicians will stop trying to get re-elected because they make so much money for speaking they don't care about the US. They actually RAISED their speaking rates in a crisis. They say because it is availability but is it because they CAN. It's SAD.
Flat tax of 15% for everyone, Companies, personal, etc. No tax write offs and the Gov't will make more money then now AND get rid of the IRS and save BILLIONS! not sure why so difficult. So a Business has to pay more taxes. So a Billionaire can't use high priced lawyers to pay 20% on 45 Million which is less than the 3% a person that makes 150K a year.
Our system is corrupt. Time to fix before our kids go to a civil war.

This of course will lead to nation wide gun laws, they come in from less restricted states; since other states won't regulate, you will see national laws. They will use the commerce clause to do so.

Washington DC along with Chicago, NYC, and New Orleans have draconian gun laws in place already. I wonder if any correlating variables exist pertinent to strict gun laws and high gun crime? Perhaps take a high school philosophy or a remedial science class to learn how to test an experiment's validity and reliability. Guess what the results illuminate in our absolutely flawless macro experiment...That your gun laws do not work even in the most quarantined and sterile societal models. But hey..I am sure some TV logic supersedes the scientific method and irrefutable empirical evidence. (Fyi I am not a Republican or teabagger so save it..look for grammatical errors or some other logical fallacy.I just have this bad habit where I do this archaic thing called... THINKING )

No shots would have been fired if they just would have taken the guns away from law enforcement!

Now that they are in lockdown, maybe they should get busy and do their job of passing a budget. It isn't the best way to force them to the table...but they can't leave. So get to work and do the job you are elected to do!!!

I hope everyone remembers these actions taken by the "Representatives" of the People during election time. I know for a fact if I don't do my job or refuse to do my job I'm getting fired..... How about "We the People" remind Congress who they REALLY "work" for and "FIRE" them?

Don't let the "Capitol Shooting" overshadow the fact that our "representatives" are FAILING us.....this shooting is another example of how, because of their actions (or lack thereof) there are severe consequences.

"We the People" should be tired of Politicians taking us for granted and only "loving" us and "kissing babies" when it's election time!! ENOUGH
