Washington (CNN) - As the country goes into the weekend with the government shut down and neither side talking, there seems to be little hope for breaking the impasse any time soon.
And with the days ticking down toward the moment the country runs out of options to meet its debt obligations, the head-butting over funding the government might force Congress to try to work out a deal to get it running again and raise the debt ceiling at the same time.

Our governemnt is shut down??? Hadn't noticed. Looks like we are saving a lot of money. Let's see if we can keep it shut down for a whole year.

Interesting that in spite of the regimes attempt to destroy the savings and 401ks of hard working Americans by trying to talk dow the markets during the corrup presidents campaign speech yesterday they are up again today. Just goes to show the dope addict and welfare frauds choice for president has no credibility. Also interesting that the corrupt president shuts down open spaces and things that aren't even owned or operated by the government to try to make people hate the Republicans. He must think all Americans are as stupid as those who voted for him.

Hey everyone, its WiredWierdinSF! Guess what, your boys OWN this trainwreck. The market is holding steady because they know Boehner is about to fold like a moth in a furnace, and Wall Street and the banks don't want either this or a fight over the debt ceiling. They ahve more faith in him than they do with the Weeper.
Nice picture of Candy COW!!!
Fir all GOP thugs.
Fire all GOP thugs. Period.
"Government shutdown: What's the endgame?"
GOP/Teatrolls' Endgame: DEstroy the federal gov't. "If we can't have it and control it, then nobody will."
Couldn't you have found a better picture of Candy? That one looks like it was taken after someone walked in the studio with a large pepperoni with extra cheese.
“I firmly believe their position is untenable,” Cantor wrote in a memo . “Because their position is unsustainable and because we are willing to negotiate to find a reasonable resolution, I believe it is critical that we continue to engage and offer meaningful solutions for the American people."
Wow , what a `jerk !
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. ...Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."
Barack Hussein Obama
huh?

As long as you Mr Huh ? , take the economic responsibility personally to start it up when you need it again .
Do you live in a lead incased bunker ?
The end game for the gop is to show that we don't need gov. That is what they are trying to prove. The gop are happy about this.
Long in order for your comment to have ANY credibility raising the debt ceiling would have to be unheard of, it happened more under gop go figure you missed that, clueless as usual, try to keep up huh?

Why would I want to start up what I haven't missed in a year?! It's like all those old clothes in the closet that you don't wear. Throw them away if you don't wear them in a year. Same thing with these 800,000 NON-ESSENTIAL government employees. Just old government clothes in our government closet that is costing us hundreds of billions we have to borrow to pay them.
And no I don't live in a bunker. I've travelled to and from work all week and the world has survived and I haven't seen one thing affected by the government shutdown. I say keep it shut down.
@bman3304
I don't think Americans who can't even afford a Christmas Tree because of this liberal economy care one bit about this. I know a certain Muslim in office who would prefer to do away with it all together...

Where do I send the Don't care for confederate soldiers packages ?
Remember , your not alone , there is a guy just as ignorant as you in the tribal region of Pakistan .
"Couldn't you have found a better picture of Candy? That one looks like it was taken after someone walked in the studio with a large pepperoni with extra cheese."
Hehe. I was thinking more along the lines of: looks like it was taken after someone continued to insist that Obama never called it a terrorist attack.
Still bitter towards her for calling Mittens out for lying, eh guys?
"Do you live in a lead incased bunker ?"
Nah...the conservatives live in something even more impenetrable than that: ideological fantasy.
-huh?

So, say you get your wish, and those 800,000 are never brought back; thats 800,000 new unemployed people. I'm stunned at the stupidity of your argument. All the civilian employees at the Defense Department and other agencies, who work hard to keep this country safe: you want them gone? Just because you drive around with your head up your a$$ on your way to your job is no excuse to demean people who chose public service. Your analogy of them being no better than old clothes is insulting, but its what I've come to expect that from the people who are proud of their ideological blinkers. Yoru life has been impacted, Jack, you're just not open enough or smart enough to notice, but I'm sure you know what's on cable tonight.
Fair, they used this vid-cap earlier on a different story. I think someone at CNN is mad at Candy.
Speaker Boehner.. who is SOOO deep into your pockets, you won't even bring a clean CR to the floor for your OWN party to vote on?
What is so important you are holding this vote up from your OWN party, in lieu of pandering to less than 40 extremists from 'loud' districts?
Inquiring minds want to know..
Stop the Green Eggs and Ham games, and bring a CR to the floor champ. The American people DON'T deserve this. Your party has put them through enough already. For the sake of your soul, stop the damn games

...and I know certain citizens that would like to do away with it as a return to Freedom of Religion (ALL religions) as opposed to State endorsed Religion.
The world is watching us...How can we lecture them? Where is our Moral authority?
Taliban=Muslim Brotherhood=Hezbollah=Tea Party no difference just like to hurt others
This whole charade boils down to this:
They're coming after Social Security and Medicare.
Social Security has not been cut – yet.
Should legislation be successful in passing congress that in any way cuts Social Security- even while the program has a $2.8 trillion surplus- the federal government then is guilty of crimes against the American people.
@The Real TP,
"Tom, the threats they have been issuing, the dark warnings all amount to that. You once said you were an independent: please demonstrate that by not issuing blanket statements about people on the Left lying, and diminishing your intelligence in the process. Cruz, Lee, Paul, all of them have been threatening this for months: is that an act of responsible legislating?"
Hey TP, hope you have been well. To be honest, lately I think your comments have been a lot more emotionally driven. I mean, on Wednesday the market was down 60 points and you were blaming repubs as if a 60 point drop really matters. I know you have a better understanding of the market and how it works and I know you know that a 60 point drop is nothing. That being said, I believe in this case with your assertion that Cruz "wants" to shut the govt down to be totally off base. He might find it an unfortunate necessity rather than an actual desire. Clearly, he wants a smaller govt but that doesn't mean he wants no govt. There is a big difference. I'm not sure if you will accept this analogy but it's just like a parent who doesn't get their child a toy because they just couldn't afford it. The parent doesn't "want" for the child not to have the toy but does it out of better judgment. Please recognize that I understand that our economy is not a "toy" and I am not saying that Cruz is the "parent". I'm just trying to show you how you are using the wrong word and it changes everything and makes it an emotionally based argument that really isn't true.
So I stand by my comment that Cruz does not want to but feels that he has no other choice. I think there could be better ways and I believe that they are all just playing us for fools trying to scare us into manufactured panic. I believe that if we take in 250 billion every month in receipts that there is absolutely no reason, no way and no comprehensible thought behind not taking 7 billion of that 250 billion to pay our debts. But I'm open to hear what you have to say and hope you see this post...
They are just a bunch of amateurs... they have no idea what they are doing... this Tea Party bunch. They had no business running for such high offices. It's nuts.
@bman3304:
Just thought you might like to know that Grover Norquist is not "in office". Neither is his Muslim wife.
