(CNN) - The 34-year-old dental hygienist from Stamford, Connecticut, had just rammed her black luxury car through barricades and into police cruisers near the U.S. Capitol, one of Washington's securest areas.
In the car with Miriam Carey was her year-old daughter.
Police say Carey then sped down Pennsylvania Avenue before crashing. Two law enforcement officers were injured, and officers fatally shot her.
But was the shooting of the unarmed woman justified?
FULL STORY
No clarity on the shooting.
Plenty of clarity on the cowardice of our leaders in D.C., though.
"But was the shooting of the unarmed woman justified?"
Take this incident and that question back to 2003 and tell us you'd still be asking it. Go ahead. I could use the laugh.
I am pretty sure the two Capitol police would dispute she was "unarmed".
Guns are not the only deadly weapon available when behind the wheel of a two ton auto.
Besides, how were they to know she did not have a bomb in the car?
I am surprised they did not shoot her at point blank range when they had her cornered at the White House, before she made the break for the Capitol.
And now the family is whining she was unstable, then explain why the baby was still in her care? They should have intervened and took the baby in until she was better. If she would not agree, they should have called CPS.
They are the ones guilty of a "crime", not the Capitol police, who are working WITHOUT pay to protect the very TP terrorists that have cost them their paycheck!

Just think of all the birds, squirrels and other animals that will now have their home for Christmas... We don't need a tree in Washington. It is just another celebrity event that Obama will use to attack people. He has no class whatsoever.
*************
The only time a rightie likes trees or any aspect of the environment is when they can use it to attack the President. Another exmple of CBODD on display.
Since we were discussing folks working without pay, if wounded on your job when you are not getting paid, are you covered by work men's comp or will the two Capitol police she wounded have to pay for their medical bills?
In the absence of any weapon being used other than the car, I would say it was not a justified shooting.
A focas comity on the lack of quality mental health care would be welcomed .
I would have thought the police could have boxed her in with their patrol cars. However, I was not there and she was out of contol. It was a justified shooting.
Tragic story. Was it justified? I don't know why they didn't shoot out the tires.
"Tragic story. Was it justified? I don't know why they didn't shoot out the tires."
You can still drive and hit people with flat tires. It doesn't magically stop the car.
Had this happened in 2003, every single GOPer/Teatroll here would have been wondering why she wasn't shot in the face when they surrounded her (right before she drove off again) and cheering the police officers who finally blew her away, saying "you ram the WH gate, then run over a secret service officer, then go on a crazy high-speed chase involving 20 cop cars all the way over to the Capitol Bldg where the House and Senate are, then you get shot...this is not rocket science...what's so hard to understand about that? You're either with us or against us."
Fact: the only thing that the GOP/Teatrolls think "unjustified" the officers' actions here is that it was in defense of Obama. You can find it all over the intertubes that they are spinning mightily to make this look like heavy-handed brown shirt activity.
"In the absence of any weapon being used other than the car, I would say it was not a justified"
So, if police had been able to shoot and kill Timothy McVeigh while driving the truck in OKC, they should have given him a pass because he did not have a gun?
What an ignorant suggestion that you only use gunfire to return gunfire.
How were the Capitol police to know she was not hauling 200 pounds of explosives in the trunk of her "non-threatening" car?
Zero tolerance is just that, when some one is trying to injure others in ANY fashion, you stop that threat dead in their tracks.
The families of 168 Oklahomans would be happier today if the police had a chance to stop McVeigh.
@Rick McDaniel
In the absence of any weapon being used other than the car, I would say it was not a justified shooting.

N,ot a justified
You see , we can agree !
To those of you have never faced what the officers did you have no idea about split second decisions. To those of you who have never dealt with mental illness you have no idea how difficult it is. It is so easy to second guess anything when you have not walked in the person's shoes that actually experienced it. For your sakes I hope you never have to.
