Shutdown threatens Northwest city - and Capitol Christmas tree

(CNNMoney) - In Newport, Wash., a city of just over 2,000 people, the government shutdown is causing growing anxiety - over a Christmas tree.

It's not just any tree. The 88-foot tall Engelmann spruce was selected as the official tree for the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol

We don't give a crap about a Christmas tree right now. Congress doesn't deserve a Christmas this year! There are people who are not going to be paid due this shutdown. What about their Christmas? There is going to be hell & high water to pay for this next November.

This is really heartbreaking that the Capitol Christmas Tree is endangered while Boehner picks Winners and Loosers for the government to fund, or not fund.

But Seriously, NASA is essentially shut down while the final preparations for the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission (MAVEN) are supposed to happen. If the upcoming deadline is missed, the mission is put off by two years and will be much less effective at that time.

Our country wasted trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives to allegedly bring democracy to Iraq, yet our House of Representatives will not bring to vote a simple budget measure. The republicans are afraid of the idea that the representatives of the American people have their say.

well, I guess the longer this debacle goes on, more people will vote for the other party, certainly they won't vote for the party that put them out of work, right ?

I think he'll tackle Mein Kampf first, provided he can find a version with pictures.

How the Grinch " Ted Cruz " Stole Christmas!

A children's book about a guy Ted Cruz , who hated every thing about kindness and others being happy , In the end he realized he was one miserable selfish guy . After stealing everything that had to do with the holiday festival from the hard working people in the near by town , Yet on Christmas morning he had a spiritual awakening after looking at his selfish ass in the mirror , he then returned all the stuff he ripped off and was forgiven with the help of a little girl who had a heart of kindness . He stopped drinking tea and opened a coffee shop and became a productive member of the town.

Just think of all the birds, squirrels and other animals that will now have their home for Christmas... We don't need a tree in Washington. It is just another celebrity event that Obama will use to attack people. He has no class whatsoever.

I don't think Americans who can't even afford a Christmas Tree because of this liberal economy care one bit about this. I know a certain Muslim in office who would prefer to do away with it all together...
