(CNN) - Just one week ago Republicans were united, railing against the man-made evil known as Obamacare. They hated it so much, they said, they would tie the funding of the government to the de-funding of the dread program. Sure, they had tried more than forty times to get rid of the plan before, but they had never done this: Attach the plan to kill it to a must-pass piece of legislation.
It was an idea borne of necessity, some now tell me. Republicans in the House had been hit over the head in their districts by ads run by conservative political action committees (paging Senator Ted Cruz, who appeared in some). The rap against them: They had not worked hard enough to slay the evil dragon. The charge, having been plastered all over TV, was levelled against them at town hall meetings over the summer. They came back to Washington very angry at Cruz and Company. And in survival mode.
FULL STORY

The latest narrative coming out of the right wing seems to have completely dropped the word "Obamacare" from its' vocabulary. I guess they must have figured that last week's "defund Obamacare" narrative was losing for them in the polls, and so they switched to a narrative that they feel they can win, "spending".
They are as trasnparent as a three year old asking every adult in the room for a cookie until one of them says yes.
Sheesh, you've even lost Borger, rebels - one of the Dowager Empresses of BothSiderism (thanks to whomever came up with that; it's snazzier than "false equivalence".)
First the Chamber of Commerce, then Borger. Who's next? - David Gregory? Or, gasp!, Peggy Noonan?
It's wonderful that President Obama didn't capitulate to these thugs and traitors again. In the past, he tried too hard to work with people who hate him and wanted him gone. Hopefully the GOP now realize that the Democrats aren’t the pushovers we once were.
The fight against Obamacare will continue...and continue....even if it takes years – Ms. Borger. You don't know what you're talking about.
Poor Ted Cruz and his supporters, their last chance to repeal, defund, slash Obamacare has just evaporated like this.
It's kind of hard to hoodwink educated people that actually read and comprehend. We heard you loud and clear. You have been planning this shutdown since the POTUS was reelected. Everything you have put up against this POTUS has failed, don't you think maybe it's time to work with him, instead of against him? You people have tried everything to make him fail but nothing worked.
I believe if it wasn't for your blatant hatred toward him, and had you at least appeared patriotic, you might have been given the benefit of the doubt, but no, each time you tried to put President Obama in his place, he ends up putting you in yours.
Looks like that affirmative action Harvard education paid off.....
ROFLMAO.
9 days in, the only clear fact is that the Right is irrational, delusional, crazy- and frankly dangerous.
obamacare will be the final nail in the liberal coffin. its far reaching and many unintended consequences that result in tens if not hundreds of millions of people losing their healthcare, losing their doctor, losing work hours, losing jobs, paying far more, etc. will haunt the democrat party for decades. they will be known as the democrat party that destroyed our healthcare system, a system we all rely on for ourselves and our families.
And the devil said let shut down the Goverment so that people can go wild and eat each others brain and point fingers at each other . And the demon said good plan I thing it's a winner.

I support Obamacare. But this is America. Argue your case, engage people, contact your Congress person. BUT DO IT BY DUE PROCESS next time please, not hostage taking.
Now it seems that Republicans want to jump out of the airplane without a parachute. "Let's not raise the debt ceiling and have a managed catastrophe." What's next? "Let's not fund the government beyond what is 'essential'. Everyone who is currently furloughed can consider themselves laid off."
And then what? "The global financial catasrophe is Pres. Obama's fault. It happened on his watch. Didn't we try to warn you that his economic policies would destroy our economy?" And after that? The base cheers, "Mission Accomplished."

Hi "Freedom-just sayin-just askin"... I'm glad to see that you took my advice and learned how to use spell check; keep up the good work! Now be a good boy and turn off Faux "News".
Democrats must shelve their compassionate side in their conversations / interactions with ALL THINGS GOP. The Republican parety has embarked on a cynical, deceptive strategy to pull the agenda, policy, Congress, court, RIGHTWARD even if it means moving the goalposts. They will pretend that John Boehner has the authority to cut a deal only to renege on that deal and then have the Democratic position REDEFINED as what the initial compromised deal was. We see this withe the aggregate budget number that DEMS agreed to in the CR. It's time for the DEMS to go back to a $,052 !illion baseline.
They have fallen in the great devide !
You can only surve one master .
You can only pledge your alliance to one !
You cannot serve the world and God at the same time.
Let this be a lesson for all the world do not tempt us.
We can control even your weather .

Not only is this true, it also shows how truly desperate and ignorant they play the American people for.
just saying

Nah. The Tea Party is going to wreck the economy before it is even fully implemented. Just saying.
@Silence
It is your president that is holding this country hostage.
"You tried to kill my health reform bill, so no negotiation until you fund the government and raise the debt ceiling without anything attached."
Blatant mischaracterization. Obama has never NEVER said that he would not negotiate on the debt ceiling BECAUSE the GOP/Teatrolls tried to kill the ACA. You just couldn't help yourself, eh? Just had to put words in Obama's mouth that have never been there nor left it, because what would be a Borger piece without some red meat for the Teatrolls, right?
"The fight against Obamacare will continue...and continue....even if it takes years – Ms. Borger"
Oh yawn...we'll just add it to the long list that trails behind "the South shall rise again." You'll take your secession any way you can get it, huh?
And then what? "The global financial catasrophe is Pres. Obama's fault. It happened on his watch. Didn't we try to warn you that his economic policies would destroy our economy?"
-------------------------------------------------
Correct Rudy. They are pathetically transparent in their all out effort to bring this President to his knees.
Obamacare will be part of his legacy. A legacy that will live on, be improved upon, and be appreciated and utilized by generations for generations.
They can't touch it, and they can't change that, and the sooner they recognize that the quicker they'll be able to stop the implosion and rejection of what's left of the little Party that (once) could.
"It is your president that is holding this country hostage."
Said with a shyte-eating grin on your face, no doubt. Pro tip: Stridently demanding something, fervently wishing for it, and then celebrating its arrival is NOT an effective way of shifting blame fro its occurrence to everyone who opposed it.

-------------------------------------------------
And here's the kicker Wake up they were on him so much, and scrutinized him so hard that they actually made him a better President than he ever thought he would be!
Hell, the man could not afford to make one wrong move because they were all over him, so he made all the right ones!
THANK YOU GOP FOR OBAMA'S RE-ELECTION!!
Your undiluted hate and persecution of the man and his agenda to help the middle class has only suceeded in making him one of the best Presidents we've EVER had.
Turns out you all were good for something after all. Who knew!
It seems Republicans are now looking for any concession from Democrats so they can declare victory and defer this never-ending battle to another time It doesn't look like Obama and Democrats are willing to throw the Republicans a lifeline (although repealing, or deferring, the medical device tax in the ACA seems to have bipartisan support and could be used as a bargaining chip). This whole stunt has been a disaster for Republicans. Every poll I've seen puts the majority of the blame on Republicans and the divisions in the Republican party seem wider than ever. Republicans seem to be digging the hole deeper every day. Sure, Democrats publicly express concern over the shutdown and potential for default, but I'll bet secretly they are gleeful watching the Republican party self-destruct.
November 2014, by this date all the Obamacare scare tactics will have been proven to be fear mongering at it's best. The GOP knows this without a doubt. By 2016, after 2 years of democratic control of everything, the economy will be at all time highs. Millions more will have healthcare coverage. And one other thing I can guarantee, the right and Fox "spews" will still be screaming and claiming Obamacare hasn't worked and Obama is destroying the country. Even as their investments peak. These people are brainless!

OK so you have 2 civics lessons to research as a citizen of this great land of ours:
1 – from my earlier posting – everyone, even angry conservatives, need to follow due process in making Laws
2 – he is your president too – get over it, and argue with your friends to vote the way you do in the future
