Veterans rally against shutdown, detail hardships if benefits are late
(CNN) - Nearly a hundred veterans from several dozen military coalitions converged at the National World War II Memorial in Washington on Tuesday to protest the partial shutdown of the government that they say could put more than 5.5 million service members at risk of not receiving their monthly benefits by November 1.
Flanked by veterans from various wars, Garry Augustine, executive director of Disabled American Veterans, said from the podium: "Our message to the President and Congress (is), defaulting on not paying veteran's benefits is not an option. We are here to tell them it's time for the country to fulfill our promises to the men and women who served."

These folks better get behind the President because the GOP sure doesn't hold their best interests.
27% of the federal workforce are vets, and by the baggers definition they should be laid off because they are sucking our nation dry.
Remember this, folks, come November 4, 2014.
It's a good bet that their pleas will settle upon def years. The party controlling congress seems to be getting their marching orders from a very small percentage of voters, yet to hear them tell it, they are doing the bidding of the American people, they are not paying attention to the majority of people, just those they consider to be Americans. What is going to happen when they figure out that they have shot themselves in both feet, come election time? It would be nice to hear what they have to say to their reflection, when this occurs.
The ONLY solution..Americans need to quit electing people who don't truly understand that when you shut down the government, you shut down the ENTIRE government!! You don't get to pick and choose what portions stay open. Also, If we default (and I believe we will) the damage will be substantial and EVERYONE needs to get ready for interest rates to go up 2 to 4%. And guess what?? It will take us LONGER to pay off the debt, because the nation will have to pay higher interest rates!!
so what do they want the president to do ??? I guess millions of people don't need health insurance either. They should go protest in from of the republican lead congress. Those trolls who spend their time calling everyone else unpatriotic should have to explain to them.
The President wont let them down .
