Stenographer snaps, rants on House floor

Updated: 2:06 p.m. ET, 10/17/2013

Washington (CNN) – Amid all the chaos of the last-minute deal in Washington, there was an unusual moment on the House floor moments after the bill passed.

A House stenographer and well-known employee calmly took to a microphone and began screaming.

"Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand," she said, according to a House GOP aide. After a few seconds, she was escorted out by the Sergeant-at-Arms, but an audio recording by Todd Zwillich of Public Radio International captured the rest of her rant.

"He will not be mocked, He will not be mocked, (don't touch me) He will not be mocked. The greatest deception here, is that this is not one nation under God. It never was. Had it been... it would not have been... No. it would not have been... the Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons... and go against God. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God, Lord Jesus Christ."

House members and aides were surprised and unsettled by the scene.

"I don't know, she just snapped," said a GOP aide.

CNN's Dana Bash spoke with several staffers who knew the woman well.

"She’s a well-known person, she’s a perfectly nice person, a good colleague, somebody who’s respectable and dependable, and this is very surprising to everybody who works with her," Bash reported on air.

"The Sergeant in Arms didn’t try to stop her because she works there and that’s where she’s situated," Rep. Peter King, R-New York, told Jake Tapper. "And she actually went up behind the podium where the president speaks from. They thought she was going to hand something to the speaker, and then they realized."

Officer Shennell S. Antrobus of Capitol Police told CNN she wasn’t arrested or charged and was transported to a local area hospital by DC Fire for further evaluation.

In terms of an ongoing investigation or further action about the stenographer, Antrobus said no such action will be taken.

"There is nothing more, from our end, that we are going to do," Antrobus said.

–CNN’s Deirdre Walsh, Steve Brusk, Dan Merica and Conor Finnegan contributed to this report.

Senator Ted Cruz and his gang of Republican-confederate revivalist’s saber rattler’s is rattling the nerves of the whole nation. That poor woman could not take it anymore. I wish her well. What Ted Cruz just did to the country, financially, without one ounce of regret, should shock everyone, ESPECIALLY the Tea Party folks, because Cruz meant to hurt you the most. Cruz did this to you in order to increase your anger, and use you to take power. Tea Party, be careful what you wish for.

God cannot be mocked! Not by the united states government or anyone for that matter for He is a consuming Fire. Almighty God, forgive Americans that don, t You. Bless those that knows You Jesus to pray for all of us. America is the seat of the world. And if it's seats on a sinking sands–figure it out. If our main focus Jesus, all things will be alright.

Someone who spoke up for the truth is taken to the hospital? Really? That is hilarious. This person exhibited the kind of courage that all true Christians should, no matter what the forum.

    Whatever happened to free speech?

Let her rant ..... Her craziness is no different than the and the Tea Qaeda nut jobs like Cruz, Palin, and Bachmann.

It will help more Americans understand what religion does to the human mind and that religion and politics should never mix.

Medical professionals claim that mental disorders are caused by a chemical imbalance. Do you think it is feasible that some kind of antidote could be created for the Tea Partiers just like for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or Schizophrenia? I mean let’s face it. People who are willing to completely implode and destroy their own country just because an intelligent black man was voted president of the United States should be classified as insane. I also think that now would be an excellent time for them to take one of their pet slogans to heart: America, love it or leave it!.

If she has something to say on the floor of the House, she's welcome to run for office and be sent there by a majority of constituents from her district. Otherwise, as she was not elected to represent a population, she has no business sharing any words in the chamber. If she wishes to have her feelings and opinions expressed on the floor, I would suggest she contact the elected representative chosen by the people of her district.

She probably just calculated the added trillion dollar debt that the Democrats just added to the nation and mentally snapped. She came to the fact that we as a nation are now certainly heading down into a self created death spiral.

Free speech Candice Brasington does not mean getting up in front of a group of people acting bizzare. An evaluation is the least of what that women needs. Her rant about the Free masons sounded like she is from the traditionalist sede vacantist society of the SSPV. who loathe the free masons. she definitely needs help. big time.

A good example of who the TP are. Crazy religious fanatics. That remark from Klayman was enough for me, telling the president to put down the Koran and get up off his knees. at this point, the TP are the same as al queda.

It's certainly unnerving to see all of the anti-christian and anti-religion rhetoric on here, especially in a nation founded on Christian principles. It's no wonder we're beginning to see the fall of our once-great nation, as those of you who grew up without morals, without religion, and without a purpose are now removing religion from our schools, prayers from our sporting events, and common sense from everything you do. But then, I would expect nothing less from CNN cronies. God Help Us all!

This is yet another reason that even the mildly religious should not be trusted: You never know when they'll go off.
And they will. Anyone who claims to believe in this nonsense is NOT a stable individual.

@ Scott: the affordable care act is yet another way to take over everyone's liberties. This "law" will crumble under its own weight, it already started. It is an horrible law that will have horrible consequences.
