Police investigating threats against Ted Cruz

Washington (CNN) - U.S. Capitol Police are investigating threats made Friday on Twitter against Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who gained national notoriety following his high-profile stand pushing Republicans to only allow the federal government to be funded if Obamacare was not. When the Senate refused to go along, the 16 day government shutdown resulted – and Ted Cruz became the de-facto face of it.

The posts came from a man who identifies himself as a military veteran and included, “Ted Cruz needs to be taken out,” and, “Take down Ted Cruz, at his home.”

“We are looking into the threats made on Twitter,” U.S. Capitol Police spokesman Officer Shennell Antrobus told CNN.

Cruz’s office confirmed the matter has been referred to the police.

“We are aware of the threats and have notified the proper authorities,” said Cruz’s spokeswoman Catherine Frazier.

The law enforcement investigation was first reported by The Hill.

–CNN's Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

The reason Liberals stoop to this level is because they are bored.

I'm guessing that these threats are being made by GOP trolls, pretending to be anti-GOP/Cruz, in order to show that there are just as many crazies on the left. There are crazies, to be sure. However, the tendency towards threats and violence are less evident from the left. I mean, who do you think owns most assault-style weapons?

And so starts the Ted Cruz damage control campaign, starting with the "I'm a victim for standing up for Americans" canard. Next up, the defiant "I will continue to stand up for ordinary Americans despite any danger" bloviation replete with Flag wrap and puffed out chest. This guy is a BS salesman with a mouth full of sample.

And when will the investigations of sedition and threats against the President begin? I suggest starting with Boehner and McConnell for their remarks on election night 2008, Mr. Cruz for his ongoing behavior in this crisis, and then continuing to include all of those who voted against the bill this week to re-open government. They certainly appear to meet the legal definition of sedition.

Three salient things we Americans learned about the tea party during the shutdown:

    #1: They don't like us.
#2 They're not all that completely sold on the Democratic Process either.
#3 They're not above sedition and political extortion to promote their ideology.

With "patriots" like these who needs enemies?

Is he trying to divert from the ethics violation charges against him?
I am surprised that it's only one person since he has taken so much from millions!!
If you are afraid all you have to do is go back to Canada or Cuba. That should solve the physical part of your problems.
We don't want you in the US!!!

I wouldn't be surpised to find out this was a paid stunt to a) keep Cruz in the news, b) elicit sympathy for the most hated man in the nation! That is, after all, the kind of 'trust' Ted Cruz inspires! Also, I'd like to point out that he's Not a Texan! Neither is Dubya! Try Ann Richards, Charles Umlauf, Molly Ivins & most recently Wendy Davis for proof of humane Texans! Cruz is an opportunist Texans had barely heard of before the Tea Party thrust him onto the national scene! Texas was just a spring board for him, kinda like his shutdown is supposed to spring board him into a presidential nomination! It's all going to 'heck' now though, huh Ted!?

I am hoping that whomever is doing the threats gets arrested and and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I don't care if it's a Democrat, a Republican, an Independent; or whatever! Mr. Cruz is simply expressing his God-given FREEDOM of SPEECH. Would he be threatened if he was a Democrat?! I seriously doubt it.

Could the threats be coming from the Obama goon squads?! Hum... I would not put it past them!!!

What does he expect, he is messing with peoples lively hood. You do that and then brag about it and say you are going to do it again, people are going to get a little irritated. The vast majority of people in the US, whether Demo. or Repu are very moderate and do not want anything that Cruz is selling. If I was Cruz, I would not worry about the people that vocal about threats but the ones that say nothing.

Well this LIB (once busted and sentenced to a long stay in prison) should be all set now. 3 hots and a cot for about 25 years. Free Obamacare and cable TV. Does it get any better for a LIB than that? Stupid ass people, I swear.

Cuz is using Palins play book. He just wants the publicity so he can cash in like Palin. Don't be surprised if he resigns and hits the talk show circuit and a cushy consultant spot on Fox news in a year or so. They all have one interest and there,s nothing special about it. Its their own pocket$.
