Romney: Health care law ‘rotting’ Obama's second term

Washington (CNN) – Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Sunday that the botched rollout of the federal health exchange not only proves the President "failed to learn the lessons that came from the experience in Massachusetts," but also threatens to derail the credibility of his entire second term agenda.

"The fact that the president sold it on a basis that was not true has undermined the foundation of his second term. I think it's rotting away," Romney told David Gregory on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Romney berated Obama for how he sold the Affordable Care Act during the 2012 presidential campaign. The President routinely fell back on a chorus line of, "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. Period." But that’s not the case. Americans across the country have received cancellation notices from their policy suppliers across the country because their previous plans do not meet the minimum requirements under the new law.

In the wake of the President's trip to Boston to support his signature health care law, the former Massachusetts governor, whose reforms of that state’s health insurance industry helped provide the foundation for the Affordable Care Act, said Obama's approach also ignored the "differences between different states and populations."

"First of all, the Massachusetts experience was a state-run plan. The right way to deal with health care reform is not to have a one-size-fits-all plan that's imposed on all the states," Romney said.

Another lesson, Romney said, is that health reform doesn’t necessarily reduce costs.

"Massachusetts teaches some important lessons some states are not going to want to follow. One lesson is health insurance is more expensive in Massachusetts than anywhere else in the country," Romney said.

When the Heritage Foundation, a Republican think tank, invented the individual mandate in the late 1980s/early 1990s, it was not designed for Massachusetts. Romney enacted the Massachusetts health care program with the individual mandate in 2006, and he touted the program as a model for the nation in 2009. If Republicans won't stop lying about Obamacare, they will never win another national election.

Romney is right about HC rotting the second
Obama term, which, also, Is, to quote Hillary Clinton, "careening from crisis to crisis" along with this latest fiasco.
Obama ran a tighter, if still leaky ship in his first term. Now, not a candidate, he let things slide-from Boston to Syria-to even his "signature legislation". What's next?

Obama lied about health care and demonized Romney to win! He did. America
did not. At least Romney could explain the
Mass. Health Care, and he understood the rules. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and Sebelius have Yet to explain or understand their version – they wrote it!

Our health care system works very fine so what we get from the federal will build our infrastructure, because we are stupid to let our citizens suffer because we want to give the richest people tax cuts, that's how our tax systems work for us here

    MORE OF THE SAME,
Over the last 100 years the people bought the Liberal Idea that they "Would Take Care of You" Mentality so the people bought the idea that it was working. Now today the country is in all kinds of trouble and getting worse. The latest pitch is raise the National Debt Ceiling. The liberal's want to raise taxes, except it is on those that make over $200,000.00. Why? Because they sold the public a bill of goods they can't pay. The Liberal's will tell you we left the 1930's. No we didn't. They just Re-Invented it. Now they want to Re-Invent the old Soviet Union.

If these people are not complaining they have nothing at all to say. IMO the President's second term is rotting the republican party because it has forced them to reveal their true nature.

With respect to the current technical glitches in the ObamaCare web site, Republicans want to delay the implementation of the ACA for at least a year in order to buy time needed to develop strategies for have it completely repealed or neutered. They are certainly not interested in using the time to improve the stability and security of the online resources.

Bottom line: The web site will be fixed in a few weeks.
The same cannot be said of the Republican Party and its self-destructive tea party faction.

Romney's biggest problem with Obamacare is that it helps the 47% instead of just the top 1%.

Romney really doesn't know what he is talking about. If the GOP in Congress really had taking an active part in crafting the law, then there would be a better out come. They refused and don't want a thing to do with it because they like the status quo with people not having access to health insurance and therefore affordable medical care.
