The Senate is set to vote on a key procedural measure Monday afternoon. It's the first time the Senate has moved to take up a comprehensive form of the bill.
FULL STORY

According to the GOP votes in congress and the senate, America was never about equal rights.
I think it's time for Fox to stop the stupidity, leave adult discussion about politics, and go back to fighting the non existent war on Christmas. That is what they do best.
Tampa Tim
According to the GOP votes in congress and the senate, America was never about equal rights.
-------------------
sure it was Tim, but only equal rights for THEIR type. The others are open to any discrimination possible.
I think that this, like almost all civil rights issues, should be mandated by the Court, rather than by piecemeal legislation.
And here we go again. Yet another example of the left fighting to expand or protect people/s rights, while the right fights to deny or restrict people's rights.
The only personal freedom that the right will protect are gun rights. Too bad that most conservative voters haven't figured out that they're being played for suckers by right wing politicians when it comes to gun rights. All the politicians want is your vote, and "supporting gun rights" doesn't cost them anything.
But, it costs the voters and the taxpayers. The right wing politicians only enact laws that serve the wealthy and big business. Name one piece of legislatino that right wing has supported that helps the middle class, small businesses, or the poor.
There's no "religious freedom" issue here. NONE. You do not have the right to discriminate in hiring based on your religious beliefs in the secular business world and the Constitution gives ample power to the gov't to regulate that under the Commerce Clause, 14th Amendment, etc. The carve-out for religious institutions is sufficient for the insular practice of bigotry if you're so inclined....altho some might argue even that shouldn't be given to them as it encourages the wider practice of discrimination elsewhere. Now, let the "war on Xmas" and "white Christians are the most persecuted people in 'Murika" nonsense continue apace...your tears sustain me.
seems like the far left progressive-socilaist-communist democrat party is interested in protectting only the rights of its supporters. religious rights? gun rights? right to privacy? right to be left alone by a over bearing federal government? they could care less.
House republicans will not take this bill to vote is it right ?
@Sniffit,
" Now, let the "war on Xmas" and "white Christians are the most persecuted people in 'Murika" nonsense continue apace...your tears sustain me."
If only we were successfully waging that war, at least on Christmas MUSIC. While I generally like the holiday, 2 months of nonstop Christmas music on the radio turns me into a Grinch every year.
Outreach! Right, GOPers/Teatrolls? OUTREACH!

The left protects all civil rights, and not just gun rights.
In most staes in this country, if a person walked into work and announced that they had found a new boyfriend, a couple of different things could happen depending upon the person's gender. If a female said it, there would be no just cause to fire the person from the job. If a male had said it, most staes in this country would allow the person to be fired.
At its' most basic level, discriminiating against the LGBT discrimination is no different than gender discrimination, which is already prohibited by the Civil Rights Act.
Nothing says "freedom" like "muahahahaha, nobody can stop me from acting out my irrational hatred and oppressing you!!!!"
@just asking "seems like the far left progressive-socilaist-communist democrat party is interested in protectting only the rights of its supporters. religious rights? gun rights? right to privacy? right to be left alone by a over bearing federal government?"
But I will bet you are OK with a far-right Religious State telling people what to believe like teaching your version of the Bible in school and telling a woman what she is allowed to do with her own body. That kind of federal overbearing is cool, right?

When the right stops granting personhood to corporations, they might have credibility.

Funny how just saying and just asking both refer to the Dems as -"progressive-socilaist-communist democrat party "
What law has been passed which suppresses religious freedom? Are you not allowed to worship at the Church of your choice unmolested? (hey, no catholic jokes, ya'll)
Has not gun rights been expanded over the time President Obama has been in office? (yes, he signed the federal law allowing firearms into National Parks)
Has not the Dems fought valiantly against the candidate for Gov. in Virgina who supports government intrusion into a woman's vah jay jay?
I think you may be confused just asking... I think it is your party who constantly wants to infriinge upon freedom and individual rights. Bit of course you all have always been masters of hypocracy...
