Poll: No good news in Obama approval ratings

(CNN) - The disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov and the sluggish economy have done President Barack Obama no favors, with a new poll showing just two in five Americans approve of his job performance.

According to the survey from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 41% of those polled approve of Obama’s job performance while 65% disapprove specifically of his handling of the economy.

Conducted October 30 through November 6, two days before the most recent job numbers were released, the poll shows that of the 2,003 individuals 18 and up interviewed by telephone, just 31% thought the President had done a good job in his handling of the economy.

Obama’s overall job approval rating represents a 14 point slide from where he stood last December, according to Pew. In the latest survey, 53% disapproved of Obama's handling of his job.

On health care, the survey indicates Americans are dissatisfied overall with Obama’s policies, 59% disapprove compared with the 37% who approve.

The approval rating is actually slightly higher than Obama’s Gallup numbers from earlier this week, which showed him nearing an all-time personal low at 39%. Those numbers have since ticked up slightly. Obama’s lowest Gallup approval rating came in 2011 when the number of Americans saying they approved of his job performance hit 38%.

Obama’s approval ratings are slightly higher than those of his most immediate predecessor at the same point, but they are much lower than two other presidents.

A year into his second term, Pew gauged President George W. Bush with a 36% job performance approval rating.

Former President Bill Clinton had a 58% job approval rating at this point in his second term. Americans under Ronald Reagan five years in said they approved of the Gipper’s job performance 62% of the time.

He should have just pushed for Universal Health Care when Dems controlled it all. Probably wouldn't have been any worse.

Like everything, this too, shall pass. Having said that-the president has appointed capable people to work with the ACA website issues. Now, he should start back bringing attention to what the T-Publicans are failing most at: HELPING TO CREATE JOBS. Bring the No. 1 issue back (jobs) and watch those ratings go back up.

" 65% disapprove specifically of his handling of the economy "

Buncha Idiots. Barry turns the economy around from the worst we've seen in 75 years, with opposition from the righties on everything he does, no help, or worse, from the media. Repubs want austerity, like the failed policies of Europe.

Even with shutdowns and sequester, the economy grows. Give the guy a break.

Only two bright spots. One, he is still way more popular than congress. Two, since he will never run for office again, it doesn't really matter.

Oh, I dunno, the real golden lining to the President's approval rating is it is nearly 100% higher than the Republicans. That probably is due to the fact that the President hasn't held anyone hostage, or tried to crash the U.S. economy, or cost the U.S. $billions like the GOP has, just this past month.

Every thing that Obama has done to turn around the Bush debacle, (Herbert Hoover's second and third term) has been without a single republican vote. It makes right wingnuts feel superior when they know they are causing people to suffer.

So that adds up to 106% – don't think I will trust that poll. Once Obamacare gets fixed and people start seeing the benefit they will get along with their family and friends, things and polls will change. The GOP cannot afford for the ACA to work because they have been so against it and there is all kind of video footage about it that you can just run those clips in a loop come election day.

Sorry. This "glitch" as it has come to be known is not the issue. It is only the tip of a vast iceberg. The real problems will start when the law is fully implemented, and the American people will realize that it is not at all what they were led to believe

He is also more popular than cancer and being eaten by a crocodile. Albeit not much.

In the years BB (before baggers) elected officials tried to put the country first. Although republicans were usually on the wrong side of the American People, they were willing to work on solutions. Even now we are in year 4 of the GOP Taliban destruction and yet, good things are happening without any GOP help. All people will have affordable health care, and we will not have to pay for uninsured republicans who show up at emergency rooms. They will actually have to pay insurance premiums like the rest of us.

Obama's average approval rating is only higher than Truman, Carter and Nixon. His average approval is lower then George W. Bush. Obama's high has been 65%. Bush's high was 90%.

Ha !! President Obama is not running for re-election. And the Stock Market is at an all time high.

However, republicans are running for re-election with a 74% DISAPPROVAL RATING. hahahahaha!!!

The president is a nice guy, but he has not done anything I can put my finger on to improve the economy. The growth so far has been anemic at best. None of which can be do to the government. Where I live, growth has come from the energy sector. the fracking industry is driving the job growth here is PA.
If I recall correctly, when TARP was still being debated the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that if TARP was not done, we would realize the same or better growth ten we have to date.
    Where are we now?
Broken economy, broken health care, broken immigration policy, broken international policy, broken privacy policy, drones flying around, women at the lowest employment levels, social programs with increasing the membership, and for those that are still working, nothing but higher taxes.

Give it another 2 years once Obamacare has fully destoyed peoples savings. I predict he will have the lowest in history. But it doesn't matter because they are already lining up their next puppet to put in his place.

Excuses, excuses, and more excuses is all the libs have to say about the polls right now. Liberals need to accept the fact that the majority of americans are upset with both parties. That is what the polls show.

The president willingly lied to the american people. But the stupid, fall for anything, people who voted for him wont hold him responsible. They fall in line behind their dear leader. Have you ever noticed how the president never seems to know about scandels but killing bin laden he was in the thick of things. the obama regime has to think the american people are idiots. Theres no other logical explanation for his behaviour.

it sure is a good thing that obama and the democrats repeated their lies about obamacare sooo many times! their lies are literally branded into the memory of the american people. the msm cannot undo that! obama and the democrats doubling down on their lies cannot undo that!! they have lost al credibility with millions of americans right now and that number will grow exponentially as obamacare takes down millions more and their health insurance with them.

obama and the democrats have messed with the wrong thing in pursuit of their holy grail, single payer government owned and run healthcare. they have damaged millions of americans in the process and lied about it.

the 2014 & 2016 elections will see the democrats lose everything because of their lies and damage done the the american people. it is very very personal at this point. and not in a good way.
