(CNN) - It appears fewer than 50,000 people successfully signed up for health coverage through the federally run Obamacare website during the first five weeks of open enrollment, falling well short of expectations for the period, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
The federal online application process has been marked so far by serious technical problems with HealthCare.gov since its October 1 launch.

It's still way too early but that is less than 1% of what they stated they needed for sign ups by March. They better have this website up and fully functional by the end of November or it will almost impossible to get to the 7 million number they said they need.
It is doomed. Its already a bottomless moneypit. How are we gonna get out of this?
WOW! Really hot news here; a real nail biter!
Most people are afraid of trying/accepting something new (just look at the treatment of our first minority president) but once December comes and the new year is approaching, new enrollments will skyrocket. Not since Palin have I seen so many Tickers on one subject. Oh well, for now, I guess we'll just have to endure CNN's new celebrity "the ACA website."

Are now reporting that egyptain lawyer have filed criminal terrorsim court against presdient obama in addition to the criminal terrorsim charge presviosly filed in egypatian court against the presdient s brother malik obama
I'm sure I'm going to get screamed at by all of the usual suspects but I'm just wondering why the Administration is being so secretive. Obama campaigned on being transparent. It's too early to say anything but the fact that they won't level with the American public and just give the numbers is frustrating. Any normal person would recognize it's early. Just do what you said you were going to do, be transparent, and give the numbers.
First line of this story--"It appears....." CNN if you can't report the news exactly (like "60 Minutes), why not get out of the news reporting business. I understand Issa is looking for some good people to catapult the propaganda.
50,000 enrolled for Obamacare.
52,000,000 lose their insurance after being promised that you can keep your policy.
Obama needs to draw a red line and draw one now!
That's pathetic for even being pathetic. This sets the new standard for what pathetic really is.
How many signed up on the State exchanges for the ACA
Anti-Obamacare group entices students with models and a boozy party
On Saturday, Generation Opportunity, a group in part funded by billionaire activists Charles and David Koch, threw a tailgate party with College Republicans at the University of Miami to advocate against signing up for the insurance plans.
America
My deductible is going from $6000 to $1,500 and I'll save $150 a month. Same docs and hospitals and finally drugs will be included. I'll no longer have blue cross robbing me! Stop lying you tea bagging republicans and get the facts!
Numbers will increase with the necessity, this law will be an exito with the time
This is the most important thing going on in the US 2nd to the jobless recovery. Millions have lost coverage. A mere 50k have gotten it from Obamacare. And it appears that most of those are either medicaid or subsidized. Obama first told the truth at his fake HC conference when confronted by Eric Cantor. Then lied for 3 years. Now we "find out what is in the bill." In addition, navigators are being caught on camera encouraging people to lie about...well everything.
This is the most corrupt bill ever written. It was sold on lies. Signed in the dead of night using questionable maneuvering in congress to avoid Scott Brown's election killing it (including delaying seating him).
How is this not front page news? A government that lies. Cheats. Creates a destructive bill. These are the realities of this bill. You were once a trusted news organization. What happened? When did you become the news?
The website wasn't working as it should but I can't believe those numbers because just in KY, per their governor, over 35,000 have signed up. Numbers are wrong.
Nice try though WSJ. Stay teaklan.
It is a good sign, it is working. GOP thugs need not nag on it.
I still don't understand why the hell GOP thugs did not nag when insurance thugs denied insurance on pre-existing pts, elderly, when Hospital robbed this nation with multi-tests that are unneeded, when test performed in east coast guy moves to west coast same, same test done for Freed, charged all over? Is it people lacked knowledge? Or GOP bribe by insurance, hospitals, pharmacy, doctors? Grow up. ACA is long overdue in USA.
The fewer that sign up the less it will cost the taxpayers. . . . . Now if we can simply eradicate the mandate and take the losses out of the paychecks of Congress.
From 6 people to less than 50,000 people, to me that is a big improvement while the website is still under maintenance. Slowly, slowly we reach there. Folks, Rome was not built in one day. It took them centuries.
Remember folks, that number does not include the states ACA exchanges. I am sure there are a lot more

And Thanks to the ACA those same college students can stay on the parents plan until 26. How Ironic!!! Koch brothers don't have a clue.

That's hilarious. The kids will lap up the booze and just ignore the propaganda either way, as they've done for millennia.
@don in albuquerque,

1) They have got out,
2) Issa has already found them
now all we need is Issa to get involved.
"Jeffrey Zients, the management expert put in charge of retooling the website, told reporters Friday that while his team of government and private technical experts is making progress, an increase in user volume is exposing new and preexisting problems. That, according to Laszewski, was a tacit acknowledgment the administration had “already missed its Nov. 30 deadline.”
