I it's a bit hypocritical of GOP congressmen to say they appreciate veterans, when they hold up a food stamp program that hurts 900,000 of them. Pass the farm bill you wingnuts!

Hypocritical? You're too kind. It's outright fraudulent. Remember, these are also the same people who voted to *cut* VA funding during the mid-2000s in order "pay for the war."

I mentioned this last week. Issa is going to handing the perfect alibi for missing their Nov. 30 deadline on a silver platter.

oh, i'm sure they will simply add it to their already very long list of excuses about why they failed yet again. as if one very high level person makes a difference. do all you brain dead lefties think this guy actually does the hands on work? all he is there for is to take the glory if it works and place the blame when it does not. you people don't get out into the real world too often do you?

So says WiredWierdinSF. Have you decided to come out of the bunker you've been in since changing your name? Its your hored gun Issa that's making the demand that Park drop everything and fill him in the obvious.

Anon – as I recall, it was the baggers who shut down the government. Remember them cheering and high fiving each other and Michel Bachmann saying this was exactly what they wanted. 80 elected baggers sent a letter to Boehner that they wanted a shutdown. They did not know that national parks were included.

GOP/baggers: "Thanks for your service to keep our way of life protected – now watch while we SHUT 'ER DOWN in a hissy fit."

I'd like to honor our veterans too, by making a plea for (NO MORE WARS). The Veterans who know, will understand this.

Its time today to honor the veterans. My wife's uncle ( who died in a Japanese prison camp) and countless others deserves better from us than to use today to engage in pointless bickering over which side supposedly cares more. As Americans, we call care equally, and to use this as a forum to bash each other diminishes all of us and dishonors them. Be thoughtful, and thank a vet and their familes for their sacrifices during their service and their deployments. Leave partisanship at the door, where it belongs.

Although it pains me to say this, I agree with Jack Kingston: every day should be Veterans's Day.

Wow I could not agree with you more on that. My earlier post wasn't meant to say that repubs care more than dems because they don't. I apologize if it came off that way. To me, both repubs and dems politicians have demonstrated that they really don't care about our veterans at all. If they did, none of the politicians would use them like props as they do now.

Thanks to all of the veterans on here that might see my post. I truly do appreciate your service.

Happy Veterans Day to those who served.
That being said, the teaklan hypocrites are out in full force in congress.
They were the ones who shut down the WWII Memorial and are the ones trying to cut back benefits for the veterans.

The Guns Over People tea potty think that vets are"takers" so they cut off their food stamps. They talk out of the other side of their faces on Vets day.

There Should Have Been NO More Wars, since we got out of Vietnam !!!!

Unfortunately, after Carter, we got Reagan, and he led our forces into Panama / Grenada / & the list goes ON, with every POTUS.....

I remember when the V.F.W. was losing members, ( LONG after Vietnam) till we got into another "foreign" war, ie: Iraq / Somalia / etc...... anyway, at one time when the VFW was losing members, they were asking people to be a "social member" – – – but Iraq & others eliminated that.....In other words, they have been getting "regular" members, all the time, ever since we got into a foreign war, and /or stay in a foreign war....and don't have to "beg" for "social" members....

Using vets and other groups as props is a long-standing practice, and is as old as the Republic. I don't agree with it, but its human nature to take advantage of a moment to throw out one's thoughts, regardless of whether the comment is relevant or appropriate. We do have a choice before we post: let's try to think about whether or not we honor anyone or ourselves by blurting out some ill-considered comment.
