(CNN) - The White House on Tuesday renewed its state of emergency with Iran - declared in 1979 and renewed periodically since then.
"This is a routine renewal of the policy and is not new or connected in any way to the Geneva discussion," an Obama administration official said, referring to the recent nuclear talks between world powers and Iran in Switzerland. "The previous order did not expire - we must renew it to prevent it from expiring."

Non-story. Slow news day CNN. The Geneva talks are continuing regardless.

Seriously. The Republican stance has always been that McCain jingle. "Bomb, bomb, bomb. Bomb, bomb, Iran."

Seriously??? Obama has repeated many times that the military option is on the table. He knows how to sing that McCain jingle as well. Then again, he'll probably whimp out like he did with Syria and don't think that Iran hasn't figured that out already.

and if he had let it expire, it would be "appeasement" garbage from you so spare us your bogus outrage
If it wasn't for the French, Obama and Kerry would have already screwed up with Iran. You know we are in deep doodoo when the French are saving our bacon.

Typical. I'm sure you'd have a more detailed talking point if one had been provided on Faux, Red State or Breitbart, eh? Can always tell when you guys haven't had your parrot-juice...the responses to what Obama is doing come out with all the creativity and substance of the "don't want it" from a petulant three-year old who shoves away her ice cream cuz it wasn't chocolate....or should I say vanilla?
Truth hurts, eh Sniffit? P.S. – in your own words, GFY.

Exactly! You took the words right out of my mouth. In the eyes of republicans, anything the President does is bad. Ending the Iraq war, bad. Drawing down our presence in Afghanistan, bad. Killing Osama, Khaddafi & some pirates, bad. There is no satisfying them.

What exactly is the big deal?
Renewal, as in cya just in case.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have.
Come on.

Wouldn't your statement be better directed to Bill Clinton????
“The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow.” — Bill Clinton in 1998
Good thing the House didn't have have to vote on this like they do the debt ceiling- " renewed periodically since then"...
It would have cost us 24 billion dollars and we might have had to hear cruz read 'One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Communist/Nazi/Kenyan Fish".
"Truth hurts, eh Sniffit? P.S. – in your own words, GFY."
What truth? You'd be yammering about an "apology tour" if Obama failed to renew this. Everyone knows it. You'll criticize no matter what he does. There's no truth in what you do and say, just self-serving expedience.

Unless you are saying Mr. Clinton started the ill-advised war in Iraq, I don't think so. The problem here is you equate one man saying something with a man who acted.
