(CNN) - New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie canceled an appearance in Philadelphia Thursday because he was ill, his office said.
In Philadelphia, Christie would have shared geographical territory with President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to speak at an event Thursday night for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
The governor's staff said Christie was "just not feeling well at all."
Christie had been scheduled to deliver the keynote address to the Committee of Seventy, a political watchdog group, at their annual fundraising breakfast. The event has been postponed.
After sailing to re-election last week in a very blue state, Christie is widely considered a major contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. A poll Wednesday put him in a statistical dead heat with a potential Democratic opponent, former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton.
WOW! CNN, That's news! What's next? Late train arrivals? Traffic congestion in LA? Trivial is as trivial does!
yeah, right. The GOPTaliban and their inquisition-squad are watching everything he does. Getting within 100 miles of Obama is considered treason by these pathetic losers. Tubby is veering right with 2016 in sight and soon he'll be a birther and a staunch creationist. After all, that's the GOP law and if you don't obey, you're out
Wow. Well, I'll assume Christie is actually sick, and not such a wuss that he's afraid to be seen in the same city with the President.
Well, I certainly wish him well. But, do tell, CNN. Is Christie the first sitting governor over the years to call in sick?
The type of stomach surgery he had can cause complications .
Or maybe he just needs a day off !
Weight loss surgery can be a shock to the body. Add the pressure of a campaign, it's not surprising he is experiencing some discomfort.
It is wintertime.........and illness goes with the season.
