(CNN) - Sarah Palin attempted to clarify comments she made about the Pope in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, saying on Facebook Thursday that she was not trying to be critical of Pope Francis when she said some of his statements sound "kind of liberal."
"I was reminding viewers that we need to do our own homework on news subjects, and I hadn't done mine yet on the Pope's recent comments as reported by the media," she posted.

In the interview with Tapper that aired Tuesday, Palin said she has been surprised and "taken aback" by some of the comments she heard Pope Francis make, but cautioned that she doesn't fully trust "the media's interpretation of somebody's message."
In her Facebook statement, she further explained that she doesn't trust the media "to get it right when it comes to reporting on the Vatican."
"I do, however, trust my many Catholic friends and family, including some excellent Catholic writers, who have since assured me that Pope Francis is as sincere and faithful a shepherd of his church as his two predecessors whom I admired," she added. "I apologize for not being clearer in my response, thus opening the door to critical media that does what it does best in ginning up controversy."
- CNN's Ashley Killough and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.
And some on here think she is a legitimate candidate, now that's just sad! She is an attractive woman, right up to when she opens her mouth , then YIKES! She quit her position as governor, at that point if she had integrity she would keep her trap shut, but she is shameless.
Dont you say I'm sorry, or I apologize, no, not the queen, she all but blames everyone else, true gop, never having to say sorry. That group had serious issues with accountability, wow.
"In other words, she doesn't trust the Vatican's own web site to accurately report about the goings on within its' own walls."
Well, Rudy, she did acknowledge that when addressing new subjects, one should research that subject by doing ones homework on the subject in question.
Apparently she decided to not to over burden herself in homework and instead chooses to rely on her "Facebook friends" to help her to better understand.
Palin embodies everything that is so wrong with the Right: un-informed, unrestrained, judgemental, hateful hypocrits who have the audacity to call themselves "patriots" and "christians".
Evangelicals have assumed, in many cases correctly, that Catholics were lock-step with them on issues. What Palin and other conservative evangelicals have been rudely reminded of is that the Catholic Church has stands on a variety of issues that differ a great deal from their beliefs. This is a man who uses Francis of Assisi as his role model, not Elmer Gantry, and the reminder that short term political goals are overshadowed by a much greater mission has come as a nasty shock. As one Catholic commentator put it last night, the Pope is neither liberal or conservative, he is the Pope. Palin needs to realize that regardless of how many Catholic friends she has, she will never be able to understand that the Pope does not have the luxury of engaging in secular politcal issues when he has a much greater mission, and it does not include selling books or appearing on reality TV shows.
Didn't do her homework? Hah! She's NEVER done her homework. She just babbles incoherently. And everything she says is mean or snarky. What a fool.
@Real Tom,

Great, great comment.
Sarah, Jesus was a liberal.
She never said she was sorry for saying what she said, only that she was not clear at what she was saying? WTF....
And again, like most rightwing zealots, it was not her fault she listened to someone else. Always the victim..
Who'd have thunk it.....conservatives are even against catholics. Is there anyone else left for them to offend?

Bingo. You've nailed it. I guess she still refuses to read, instead relying on the opinions of others for facts.
On the contrary , Sarah Palin was perfectly clear in reconfirming her ignorance and lack of intelligence .
I haven't see any male half term governors who ran as a VP receive such celebrity status ?
Palin makes America look like a reality television game show sponsored by Viagra .
Give one good reason why anyone would give this person the time of day, she has demonstrated time and time again her lack of understanding anything, opens her mouth and whatever come out is her position, and just think about it John McCain wanted her as his VP
The comment by rs is PERFECT! Well done...as is the one by The Real Tom Paine...
Is Sarah Palin doesn't trust what she calls the 'lamestream media', why does she even sit down for an interview with Jake Trapper?
"she doesn't trust the media "to get it right when it comes to reporting on the Vatican.""
In other words, if anyone is telling her something she doesn't want to hear because it doesn't fit into her cartoonish, ideologically dogmatic, tinfoil hatted world view, then she immediately rationalizes it away as completely untrue and the product of imaginary media bias in favor of liberals and against conservatives.
Next up: CNN will provide us with 5 articles in a row gleefully wallowing in the problems with the ACA's federal exchange website while uncritically broadcasting whatever new talking points the GOP/Teatrolls have for us today...all while ignoring the reports that premiums will be lower and the fact that the 80/20 rule in the ACA will very likely result in billions of dollars of rebate checks going out annually over the next several years, like it already has.
Hey Thomas...I think you're just about right. America IS a reality television game show...sponsored by Viagra, Budweiser, Ford & Chevy pickup trucks, Walmart, McDonalds, Aflac, Ask your doctor is X isn't right for you— etc. etc. etc. etc....
Look, already there is no way she is getting into heaven, so let's not be so tough on her.
