Albuquerque: New path for abortion opponents
Washington (CNN) - The failed referendum in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy is the first known instance of the issue being addressed at a local level, but it might not be the last.
"I think we'll see this more and more," said Mallory Quigley, communications director for Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion group.

Under Obamcare, the government now owns that womb since its care is being subsidized by the taxpayer so it is subject to regulations at all levels.

Murder is unlawful killing. Roe vs. Wade capped abortions at viability I think like 3rd trimester. So a woman's choice at 20 weeks is not murder in the US.
We live in a country of laws based on common morality, not a specific religion like Evangelical Christian or Catholic.
I hate to break it to Donna but this is a country founded on Freedoms, one of which is Freedom of Religious practice. Why do Radical Right churches try to tell everyone what to believe and do? You personally are not being told you have to get an abortion. Form a Christian country somewhere and go nuts. Then you can tell everyone how to behave.

Wrong again. States have passed laws prohibiting abortions after 20 weeks and they have been upheld in the courts. And the common sense restrictions put in place in Texas have been upheld. Thankfully fewer babies will now be murdered at the hands of the Democrats and liberals.

That's pretty much the entire purpose of institutionalized religion, particularly once they were able to organize and grow sufficiently powerful that they were capable of exerting extreme influence over or even pretty much just take over governments. And oh gee, that's why we have the 1st Amendment.
No Donna it is not a war on babies. It IS however a war to keep people like you out of our underpants. And also some people may not want to raise babies to be cannon fodder for the GOTP. Love them babies till they take their first breath but then your on your own, until we need you to be in the military and take your last breath.
Aside from the morality (or lack thereof) of the 20-week abortion issue, this conversation is primarily about health CARE. Health care in and of itself consists of services that are meant to sustain and improve life. Abortion is not health care because it involves doing away with life. So until you can explain to me how killing a baby has anything to do with healthcare–and something that all people should support because it contributes anything positive to society–I'm all for the type of legislation that restricts abortions, with the hope of one day overturning Roe v. Wade.
So you deprive women's rights because of religion garbage, man-made. No wonder people are running away from churches.

Obamacare gives everybody free birth control doesn't it? So why should there need to be abortion on demand? Take your birth control and act responsibly. No babies. Don't do those things and produce a baby and the needs and life of the baby must be protected. Enough with the masquerade of abortions as healthcare lefties. Your lies just don't cut it anymore.
Maybe we need to televise a few of these abortions on live TV so people can truly see what is taking place here?

Your question to me re: the death penalty merited an answer but the comments were shut off prior to my ability to reply. As I've stated on several occasions, I am 100% against the death penalty. And sometimes that's very difficult... when the crime is so heinous and the guilt without doubt. But with an imperfect judicial system, having the "ultimate penalty" as an option leaves the possibility of an innocent being killed. The only way to prevent that from happening is to not let it be a possibility in the first place.

I'm not sure why you have become such a demagogue lately. Repubs are trying to destroy the quality of life?? Really? That's such a childish statement and comes completely from partisan eyes. Do I think that dems are TRYING to destroy the quality of life? No. I just completely disagree with the way that they are going about trying to make it better. You would sound so much more credible if you would stop with the silly lines. Repubs are trying to do what they feel is best for the quality of life...and, if they were true conservatives and truly believed in smaller govt, then they would be doing things to make govt less involved. You, as a liberal, feel that govt is good and can help.

I stand corrected. However I must correct one notion you are putting forward that "Democrats and liberals" are out to murder babies. I am a liberal and I am not out murder babies, and I have never met a liberal that is. I support a woman's right to choose, inside the law of the state in which she finds herself.
As a bigger issue, I am very concerned about right wing church groups attempting to legislate morality and openly replace our system of government with a Religious State. This is one of the things the Founders of this country sort to escape when they left Europe.
