CNN Poll: More than half back Iranian nuclear deal

Washington (CNN) - A majority of Americans support an interim deal with Iran that would ease some economic sanctions on that country in exchange for concessions on Iran's nuclear program, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/ORC International survey released Thursday indicates that 56% of the public would favor an international agreement that would impose major restrictions on Iran's nuclear program but not end it completely, with 39% opposed to such an agreement.

Down a few bucks, Biden borrows some change for a hoagie

(CNN) - Amid a contentious day on Capitol Hill following the Senate's fight over filibuster rules, Vice President Joe Biden stole away from the White House Thursday to buy some subs from one of this favorite sandwich shops from back home.

The Vice President rang up just over 50 dollars worth of subs at Capriotti's, a Delaware-based Italian hoagie chain, on it's opening day in downtown Washington DC. Biden pulled out some cash to pay and realized he was short a few bucks.

Insurers adapt to administration fix, some renew canceled policies

Washington (CNN) - One week after President Barack Obama announced a fix that would allow people who are losing their insurance policies to keep them, millions of Americans are still waiting for the final word on whether their plans can, in fact, be renewed.

These customers had been receiving letters from their insurers informing them that they would not be able to renew their existing policies in 2014 because those policies do not meet certain minimum coverage requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

Boehner insists immigration reform 'absolutely not' dead

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner insisted Thursday that immigration reform was "absolutely not" dead – just a little over a week after declaring he had "no intention" of negotiating with the Democratic led Senate over its comprehensive immigration proposal.

Boehner told reporters at his weekly press conference he was "encouraged" by President Barack Obama's comments earlier this week saying he was open to the House GOP's plans to address immigration reforms in a series of smaller bills.

The man who coined the term 'nuclear option' regrets ever pursuing it

Washington (CNN) – Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott’s message to current Leader Harry Reid could be boiled down to this: I know how you feel, but trust me, you are going to regret this.

Lott watched Thursday as Senate Democrats invoked the “nuclear option” by voting to change filibuster rules and made it easier for them to approve President Barack Obama’s judicial appointments that Republicans have blocked.

Update 5:53 p.m. ET

Washington (CNN) - Senate Democrats dropped the filibuster bomb Thursday, and now the question is what kind of fallout will result from the so-called nuclear option.
